Heather's belt is not that high...listen to the Dreamgirls Concert...I know that it was just after 9/11 and everyone was having vocal problems, but she really couldnt reach the notes.
What about Loretta Divine! She hit the notes just fine in "It's My Party"

I just wanted to go back to a question that was asked earlier, about the highest note ever hit on Broadway...
To the best of my knowledge, the highest note ever scored in a Broadway show is the E7 that ends the titular song from "The Phantom Of The Opera", but it's quite possible that there may have been improvised interpolations of higher notes in other shows through the years...
How about Linda Eder? *ducks to avoid flying flames* I know she's not a Serious Broadway Actress, but, love her or hate her, the chick can blow.
::jumps on the Karen Morrow bandwagon::

Suzanne: I never use catalogs. I'd rather go in the store and see all the salespeople groveling and sucking up to you.
Julia: Pardon me, I never knew they were so solicitous at the K-Mart.

divanut, I know the original post is from a long time ago, but...did you ever get to hear Stephanie J.? I'd put her on this list...she has a powerful, genuine belt over which she also has amazing control--an incredible combination!
I'd love to know her top note/range. IMO, a lot of people who don't like her prefer the head voice of Menzel...but it's too "pop" for me. Give me the sheer power anyday!

Apparently, her top note is a high E. She estimates her belt at 2 and a half octaves. :)
Soooo looking forward to PIRATE QUEEN!
Edited to add: 3 octaves including head voice; her low note is E below middle C, and as it's difficult to belt low, her high belt is something like a B just below high C. Pretty high for a mezzo.

Some have mentioned Heather Headley... how high can she belt? I agree that she's an amazing belter, but I wasn't aware that she could belt extremely high, much less that she was one of the "higest Broadway belters."
To answer the question... Sherie Rene Scott. Shoshana Bean (from the little I've heard).

Okay having read the post earlier about what belt was with reference to "head" and "chest" voice I would suggest anyone with an interest click on this link and has a read. Its short and simple and explains what "belt" is without use of out-dated concepts.

Oh and Heather Headley belts an F in AIDA..amazing. "Its EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNOOOOOOUGH" at the end of Dance of the Robe.
My personal favourites for Broadway belters are Julia Murney, Carolee Carmello and Betty Buckley. But there are too many to really mention. Oh and we have some kick ass belters over here in London but they dont get quite so much exposure. People like Kerry Ellis, Jenna Lee James and Sophia Ravagelas.
