I thought Megan Hilty was doing 9 to 5?
Saw the casting notice today and it said they were still looking to fill that character, while other roles have been cast. Anyone have any info?

Why is the search feature so unloved and unwanted?

Why is the search feature so unloved and unwanted?
wonderfulwizard11,
The question should be - why is the search feature so finicky?
But this still doesn't answer my question. Clearly I see she did the reading in January. I'm wondering if she is no longer moving forward with the show now that the role is listed as not being cast.
Thanks for the article from January though. Sounds like a fun show. Don't know how long it would run, but fun.

Hilty was only involved with the first reading. I heard through the grapevine that she won't be moving forward with the project, but who the hell knows?
I also heard that the producers of Wicked asked her to tone down her ADHD performance as Glinda.

Posted: 5/1/07 at 7:18pmVery understandable, she's been doing it since 2004. She's smart for taking the dough, but it could be time for her to go.

They've been telling Hilty to tone it down ever since she was in rehearsels to initially take over the role in New York years ago (when she was also told to mold a more original interpretation and not rip off what Jennifer Laura Thompson was doing.) They like her because she is well recieved and works for cheap but I've never found her to be anything more than mediocre in the role (though she has a great voice and some substancial comedic timing.)
In regards to "9 to 5," I've heard Hilty isn't continuing with it because "Vanities" (the David Kirshenbaum and Jack Heifner musical she did out in California last year) is hoping for a New York transfer in the fall with her, Leslie Kritzer, and Sarah Stiles in toe. I would presume that her involvement with that project would conflict with her continued participation in the development of "9 to 5" (they're probably hoping to keep the same three leads from all the readings for what eventually becomes a full fledged production.)
She's contracted out in LA with "Wicked" for nine months, so hopefully she'll go forward with "Vanities" and stop playing the same role repeatedly. At some point you just have to move on.

Posted: 5/1/07 at 7:41pmCan Leslie Kritzer get out of Legally Blonde soon enough for it to transfer in the fall? And thank goodness the producers have told Hilty to calm down - she goes way too over the top.

It would be a shame for Kritzer to leave LB - she's the best friggen part of the show - though it would only be right for her to continue with Vanities.
I can't imagine it would be hard for her to get out of the LB contract - stuff like that happens all the time.

"Vanities is set for an off-Broadway transfer, no?"
That's been the plan ever since the production at Theaterworks from what I've been told by just about everyone involved, but apparently Kritzer has said to people recently that the producers are mulling over the idea of potentially going for a small Broadway house like the Helen Hayes if they are able to pull together the proper funding (though I doubt that'll happen.)
They've hired Judith Ivey to direct the New York staging, so expect it to be fast tracked into development by the fall wherever it winds up going (presumably Off-Broadway first.)

Posted: 5/2/07 at 9:46amI agree 100%. As I said, hopefully they'll stick with the original plan and bring it Off-Broadway (as I presume will end up happening.)

Did anyone give Kassebaum that memo, too, because she was out of control the last time I saw Wicked.

i personally love Kendra's take on Glinda. she may be my favorite after Kristin. but hey...to each his own.
Vanities sounds extremely fun and i'd love for it to have a life OFF-BROADWAY.
