Teddy Roosevelt is my favorite US President when I was studying US history back in high school. From his adventure days with rough riders and hunting in Africa to losing his mother AND wife on the SAME day. Wow! I think there's definitely potential for a musical there.

My friends and I had a good discussion several weeks ago on how Hamilton became mainstream and why Obama watched it. It made sense for the President to watch it since it was about US history (after all, I highly doubt he'd watch American Psycho, right?)

One of my ultimate dream wishes would be to see Encores fully restore 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It must be one of the most ambitious musicals ever to be presented on the Broadway stage.

Yes there was called "Teddy & Alice." It played 77 performances at The Minskoff in the late 80s. The score was a mash-up off original songs and hybrid songs with Sousa's music; Richard Kapp composed the original music as well as Forrest-Wrighted the rest. "

I didn't know that. I guess that idea is out. I have a feeling someday there might be a musical about Obama.

Great to hear that other people like the concept of a Teddy Roosevelt musical. He's far and beyond my favorite historical figure and I've had the idea in my head for maybe a year that a musical about him could work well.

You know while thinking of it Id really like a musical of Judy Garland. I have the sheet music to the jukebox musical based on Judy called "Over the Rainbow" but as far as i know it only followed her last days. Id love to see one based on her entire life kind of like Bombshell i just love Judy Garland.

Are you referring to "End of the Rainbow" that starred Tracie Bennett and recently played The Belasco? That focused on the last days of her life and had a few performance numbers, but it was definitely not a jukebox musical.

My bad i actually never got to see the show itself i was only gifted the piano/vocal selections which contain numbers from her films so i never knew how they were put in the story but id be interested to see the show and i just researched it seems to be referred to basically as a play with music since bennett recieved a outer critics award for a play so my apologies

No worries. It was definitely a dramatic play with music. Bennett performed the numbers as part of either a radio or television interview if I'm recalling correctly, but most of the play took place in her hotel room as she fell deeper and deeper into drug and alcohol addiction.

Years ago, Anne Hathaway was supposedly going to play Judy Garland on Broadway. It never happened and probably never will.

The story of the sham that was The Cottingley Fairies (or some other scam in which a LOT of people were hoodwinked, although the Cottingley Fairies was interesting because Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was involved and was convinced they were genuine.)

Really like the idea of bringing the friendship of these two men, and its dramatic climax during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg, into the light. Of course, creating the score seems problematical.
