I agree, I think that one is horrible. I am though looking forward to Katy Perry's.

Taylor Swift is still number one for the worst for me. And I actually kind of like her songs.
I like that one better than the other two.
I can't decide whether I like it or hate it. And I normally don't feel that way about things. I liked the Taylor Swift one the least, but I have a feeling I'll like Katy Perry's even less...
It didn't even sound like Tonight.
Schmerg, I feel the same way. I hate that it doesn't even sound like Tonight, but I liked the ending.
Yeah, that's how I feel, too. I like the ending, where he's jumping around, but I really hate the part where he sings the word 'ones' on a variety of craaaazy notes.
Yuck. Although I'm sure I'll hate Katy Perry's more just because I think she's kind of a brat (evidence: watch the interview with her where she bitches about not getting to be Anita. You're lucky you get to do this kind of thing at all, wtf are you complaining about, Katy Perry? STFU.)

Ne-Yo just sounded horribly flat to me
You people bitch that musical theatre isn't part of popular culture and then when popular culture includes musicals you freak out and say how awful it is. Which do you want?

We want pop culture to include the way Broadway is, not for Broadway to be taken over by pop culture. And it really did not sound like WSS at all.

Ugh, he can NOT sing. Even when they edit his voice, he still sounds terrible. And Katie Perry is an idiot. About a week ago, on Millionaire, she was brought on to answer a special question for charity. She knew the answer and decided to phone a friend just to talk to her. She read the choices in the order A, C, B, and D. How stupid.
Of course nobody in pop culture is going to know how to properly embody Broadway.

Taylor's lipstick looks like Winifred Sanderson's from Hocus Pocus.

The one with Ne Yo does kind of suck, but I'm obligated to mention that I love Cobra Starship.
I really don't have a problem with these things. I actually think they're pretty cool and totally plan on watching the VMAs now, which I wasn't going to do before. No one's trying to be Broadway: you don't see the guy from Cobra Starship trying out for Claude or Taylor Swift for Glinda or something. They're taking a Broadway standard and using it to hype up the VMAs while showing their talents. It's much better than last year's adds with Russel Brand making really awkward comments. The point isn't for them to sound like Tony and Maria.

The Ne-Yo/Cobra Starship one sounds like they married "I Hope I Get it" with "Tonight".
Now, I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the "Quintet" with Cobra Starship now. I watch that all the time. I just love the rock guitar with the classic WSS melody.
