In the face of unanimous pans, the show has to be on a death watch

I hope it makes it to next weekend when we are to see it. I have not seen a real trainwreck in quite sometime. I saw Metro among other things but this looks like it would make Bobbi Boland look like Death of a Salesman

Anyone remember Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks? That was panned all around. That almost made it to 3 months I think. I saw it and it really deserved all the panning.

The only thing I have heard about this show is a scene with a monkey ejaculating. Sounds interesting.

Oy. It's a gorilla. It urinates to mark his territory (another actor). The actor (a woman) masturbates the gorilla to keep him from attacking.

I foung the show interesting and I thought DeShields was terrific. And agree with Ruffian that it's a shame it wasn't a better play because it had potential.

It's such a shame that Prymate might close soon. A very close family friend of mine was a techie for the show when it was in Florida. I hate it when shows close. Me sad now.

Producer Chase Mishkin has deep pockets, witness Uurban Cowboy, but on Monday morning if it can't pull out a Best Play nom expect it to go bye-bye fairly fast.

By all accounts Andre De Shields is worthy of a nomination.

By declaring him a lead actor (which he's not) the Tony committee pretty much screwed Andre de Shields out of a nomination. He's definitely playing a supporting role and he's absolutely worthy of the award in that category.

But he did get a Drama Desk nomination.
I loved Andre in Full Monty. He is an incredible actor.
I do hope he is put in a great play soon when it closes.
He is talented.

I miss PRYMATE. It was unfairly panned by the critics, in my opinion. Andre DeSheilds was absolutely fantastic as Graham, the gorilla. Phyllis Freilich was also phenomenal. Even though she didn't speak a single word in the show, her acting perfectly conveyed what she was thinking. James Naughton really needs to come back to Broadway and Heather Tom needs to come back as well. They deserved better with this show. Too bad it closed the day the Tony nominations came out...the cast didn't even know that Sunday, May 8, 2004 was their last show while they were performing.

This thread is over four years old. Just wanted to bump it in case any of you wanted to share your memories of PRYMATE. I hope Mark Medoff writes another play again very soon. I truly enjoy his work.

This was by far the strangest show I have ever seen, , yet I still couldnt keep my eyes off of it. Andre Desheils was very entertaining

My experience viewing PRYMATE was similar to my experiences viewing IN MY LIFE and 13.

It's one of those, "Am I really seeing what I'm seeing right here, right now, right before my eyes?"

FLOP-O-MANIA.

Absurd and embarrassing.

Heather Tom was the worst. Girl couldn't act on a stage to save her life. She should stick to soap operas.

Someone mentioned that Prymate is as bad as JRB's 13? What is so bad with it? I am so saddened by this. I love his music.
