How Much Do They Make?
#0How Much Do They Make?
Posted: 7/20/03 at 12:38amI just wondering if any of you know how much the stars of certain shows make. We all know that big stars like Nathan Lane and Bernadette Peters are in a league of their own when it comes to salery, but what about lesser known people who still carry a show? Any ideas what the non-famous Donna Sheridan's, Simba's, Peggy Sawyer's, Belle's, or Phantom's make? And then what about stagehands, stage managers and other techies? I heard a crazy rumor that Vanessa Williams was paid $25,000.00 a week for "Into the Woods"... I hope that's wrong!

Read a few audition notices that list the Equity minimum:

As for stagehands, I'm too lazy to look further, but I bet there's something here:

that's the $64,000 question ! Salaries vary quite a bit for Equity contracts depending, of course, on the role, the show and your status as a performer. I beleive the starting salary for Equity ensamble is about $1,300 per. wk. with leading roles ranging from about $5,000 on up and up and up. I wouldn't put price tags with specific names here.
And yes, performers do get paid rehearsal time worked into their Equity and non Equity contracts.
