I know Opera's website says you that it is not available but I'm not entirely sure of that because I remember when I went to NY this summer and me and my mom went to a boutique around broadway, where all the theatres are, and they had the scores there. Is there anyway anyone knows if I this is true and if so how I would get a hold of one????
Here's the deal. While there are scores available for many shows, The Color Purple is not going to be one of them. Because it was so recent (and scores would usually be available if the rights to do the show were available) but that won't be for awhile. The best you'll probably get is the Vocal Selections book.
Btw....who's Opera?
Opera = Oprah
And the only way at this time that you can get a copy of the score is if you know one of the pit musicians/conductor/music supervisor/etc. a.k.a. 'good luck'
The vocal selections book isn't even out yet.

Thanx so much for your responses. Though this has put a major negative cloud over my head, I appreciate everyone's time. Sorry I mispelled Oprah. Just out of curiosity, would anyone have any suggestions for a song that is similar to Push Da Button and What about Love for me to check out? My school is putting on a musical revue and all of the actors get to pick their own songs to perform and since knowing I couldn't use any of the songs from The Color Purple, I'm having I heard time finding something. I rather not sing a song from Dreamgirls, just because of all the hype right now.
You could have the song transcribed off of the cd by a pianist. It will cost you a pretty penny but it would be all yours.
PM if you want further info.
