How do they swim in the Little Mermaid?

Heelys..he he he...

Well, lets have some ideas posted other than shoes.

Would a mermaid wear pink tennis shoes or ice skating boots?

No.

I feel like the begining will have lots of blue fabric on the floor. A big ship is ridden on. At the end of "Fathoms Below," wires come down as the boat moves off fast. The wire hooks on to holes on the tops of the blue fabric. It's pulled back up, revealing how short it is, while about 90% of the set rises up via trapdoors and scissor-lifts.

After reading somethingwicked's post, I'm not as excited about this show. I'll still give it a chance, though.

"I'm rather sad that it's The Little Mermaid that's being done. I think Sleeping Beauty would make a much more interesting stage spectacle and would be must as big a challenge. Think about the sequence where the thorns surround the castle and Malificent turns into a dragon. That, I'd pay to see onstage."

Damn that's a good idea. I would really want to see that onstage. I wish they would be doing Sleeping Beauty instead of The Little Mermaid.

The role of Flounder has been cast.

As I said on another board, by a young boy by the name of Cody Hanford.

Sarah Brightman did some very effective and relatively cheap underwater sequences in her Eden Tour. The use of lighting and sheer draperies can really effectively convey water.

I hope the contributors to this show think in artisitc terms and not functional terms. I enjoyed Tarzan alot, but everything about the show looks like cheap carnival. They really crapped out on the concepts. I understand what they were going for. It just wasn't really pleasing.

I think about BATB, Lion King for examples of how sets, effects, and costume can be used in spectacular ways. I hope Disney really thinks this through otherwise they will have another Tarzan on their hands. It seems like Tarzan is the first Disney show to get discounted so early into it's run.
