Cats 19 times and Aida 23 and counting. (Cats' touring company is coming to Long Island for the first time ever this November at a HUGE college theatre (C.W.Post), so hopefully at least 22 by mid-November)
Ok...now here's a wild and crazy thought. Instead of going to see the same show over and over again...why not go out and try something new? You might find something you like even more than Aida for the 24th time. I think it's great to be enthusiastic about a show. But countless repeat viewings means you're missing out on a lot of other great theater...on and off broadway. Why not try a play instead of a musical? Go see something off broadway. Expand!

Rent - 26 times...I think. Includes the OBC and Boston tours. Only once did I pay over the rush/sro/lottery price. Haven't seen Rent since last July...I think I'm retired.
Les Miz, Scarlet Pimp (versions 1, 3 and 4) & Miss Saigon - 3 times. Miss Saigon would have been only twice but the day I went Lea was not on so I went to the next show (I really wanted to see Lea)
The other shows I've seen I haven't visited more than twice.
Skingdom, how did you like the LaJolla Millie

I do go and see other things. Last Sunday was Chicage for the 4th, the Sunday before that was Nine, and the week of the 21st of July was Evita in Maine (with Felicia Finley, she was the best Evita!!). Thats not including the 4 times I went to Aida this summer. Oh, and this Sunday is the closing performance of Man of La Mancha (I belive it's the last row, I bought them late), and Little Shop on the third week's Sat. @ 8 show. So, I feel that I culture myself enough (with a little help from child support that was owed to me for three years:).

Actually, despite the fact that my friend and I often see things we love more than once, we see a TON of shows on and off-Broadway...as well as local theater productions in our home-town.
I know there are people who manage to see things multiple times and still see a variety of other shows. But my guess is many people can't afford that. Especially some of our younger posters.
I saw Hedwig at least a couple hundred times, maybe more. I wasn't paying, though (working), but it was well worth it.

Well, Aida has the $25.00 tkts, and Cats was when I was younger and tickets were cheaper (and I basically requested tickets for every holiday, birthday, and special event). But I caould understand what you're saying. I also get a discount from SVM through work and get all of those mailings.
mamma mia = 118 times :)
not counting the times i work

Jekyll and Hyde 16 times and you lived to talk about it?
My problem is that I'm spoiled and I really hate to sit anyplace other than orchestra, and most of the time cheap tickets or student tickets are for rear mezz or rear balcony.

Um....
Gypsy-1 time (but I will probably see it again at least 2 times)
I am also spoiled (grrrr) and don't like to sit anywhere else besides the orchestra, so normally I don't have enough money to see any more shows haha

I usually see a lot of shows more than once. I think I've seen FIDDLER ON THE ROOF a minimum of 25 times. I've seen A CHORUS LINE at least 30 times. On one occasion I saw it twice on one day. And I wasn't an usher.
I once had the pleasure of telling Lauren Bacall that I saw her do APPLAUSE 11 times. The look on her face was priceless.

Spoiled? No, I think it's just a preference. However, I would rather be sitting in the rear mezz instead of not in there at all!! Also, I prefer mezz seats, with the exception of one or two shows due to the staging etc., because it gives you a great overview of the stage and you dont see as much of the makeup and mic's. Especially in Aida, Amneris looks like a clown when you sit within the first few rows.

I see a ton of other things as well...now that Cabaret's closing, I'll *really* be able to see every last thing I want. This fall alone, I'm still planning on seeing Ave Q, Little Shop, Wicked, The Boy From Oz, and a couple shows of Taboo despite cramming in final Cabarets...This is when I'm going to start utilizing the volunteer ushering option.
I may be poor, but I still find a way to support my theatre habit!

Volunteer ushering sounds like a good option. Do many of the younger people utilize that option, or are most of you even familiar with it as an alternative to shelling out so much money?

I would love to do that, but unfortunatly
a)I can't drive to the city yet, and live about an hour away
b)School sucks
