I know this is a silly question, but i've always wondered... what do the stars of Broadway get paid? Do they make alot of money? I'm sure it all depends on their popularity, so:
What does someone like JLY get paid? He may be a Tony winner but he probably wasnt as well known until Jersey Boys right? so what would he be making starring in the lead of a musical?
And then what would someone like... i dunno... Patti LuPone make? She is considered Broadway royalty so i guess she'd be offered more?
And what about someone like Harvey Fierstein? he's famous as well...
i'm just trying to get a good understanding of what an actor on Broadway makes depending on their fame.
what does a lead character typically earn? a supporting actor? etc

Though this has been discussed to death, I still don't know the answer!

I assume that if it's a Broadway play they might get paid more than an off Broadway play. (not a fact just my opinion).

That was such a cute post :)

Since I do not feel like clicking the link just yet ... I will add my 2 cents (not part of an equity contract tho -- sorry bad joke ... didn't even make cents).
Anyway, while reading Backstage magazine, for some Broadway shows I noticed that the average MINIMUM a Broadway actor would be making is $1,465/wk. Now, I tend to move a couple numbers here and there ... but, that's what I read, or close to it. I am sure Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters and the big names make more. What I want to know is if they're not doing a show or possibly a movie ... how are they living? How can Peters afford SO much if she is not doing a show? What has she been up to lately? What is Patti doing since Sweeney closed?

Probably because when she _is_ doing a show she's making around $80,000 a week, plus a percentage of ticket sales. A week of her paycheck would last me a few years!

For god's sake, it's been closed for 2 weeks. Give the woman some breathing room.

Anyway, since no one's posted it in the thread, the current minimum for a Broadway actor is indeed $1465 (going up to $1509 next June.)
