I really wanted to like Rue, but she was awful. I couldn't believe that they pulled such terrible stunt casting. Maybe it was just the day I saw her, but it sounded like she was drunk - she slurred all of her lines and was incredibly wobbily. Not to mention that her singing (if you can call it that) and acting were so distracting that I sat there horrifyied every time she was onstage.
I know Morrible isn't the best role, but whoa.

Posted: 9/8/05 at 6:45pmAnybody want to bet Rue will be gone after her current contract expires? Anybody that hard to work with is an uncoachable calamity. A Broadway show is a 'team event' and Rue ain't a team player. Not since Golden Girls.

I thought the slurred words were a part of the character Rue was trying to create for Morrible.

Posted: 9/8/05 at 8:34pmA friend of mine went to see the show recently and he said Rue was quite funny, but judging from the way she walked, she's showing her age. Maybe she can't help that she's a little "wobbly". As far as the drunk thing, I think it's comical. But that's just me. She doesn't have to play her as if she's some kind of dignified lady like Carole Shelley did.
