I left my scarf at the Music Box Theatre last night after PRIVATE LIVES and by the time I realized it missing, the theatre was closed. Could some please give a me a few pointers in how I can go about getting it back, if at all possible?

You're local, aren't you? Go to the stage door at your earliest convenience and inquire after it. If it was turned in (good chance, as who wants a used scarf?), the house manager will know where it is. They'll hold it for a minimum of 30 days.
No, I live in Jersey...I can ask a friend who works in the city.
I once left my cell phone at the Walter Kerr. They were wonderful. They had it the next day during intermission. But if you can't get there they also gave me a number for lost and found. I assume it's for all the theaters.
What is the number?!? I couldn't find one...
My mom lost her coat in the balcony of the Belasco last year after WOMEN ON THE VERGE. She talked to people at the Box Office and they said it had probably already been picked up by the cleaning crew. She was told to call telecharge and they could try and help her but it was to no avail. Be careful in a Shubert house.
Last year I had lost my phone in the Friedman (MCC's theater). I had figured it out by the next day and was able to call MCC's office, got the name/number for the house manager and was told I could come by when he got in - something like 5 p.m. or so, or around 11 a.m. on matinee days. I went to the theater, buzzed at the stage door, talked to a security person, met with the house manager and they had my phone. You just have to be able to describe the item that was lost.
Since Private Lives is closing this weekend, I'd have someone go for you asap.

"Be careful in a Shubert house."
Very unfair to say that based on one experience, aasjb4ever. I have personal knowledge of many items returned to their owners from Shubert theaters, including valuable jewelry (and that was at the Belasco). I don't know why anyone would direct you to telecharge, as they only have the most peripheral connection to the theater.
You can look up the Shubert organization # online, winston, but your best bet is to have your friend stop off at the theater to check. Good luck.
I called the Shubert Organization and got a number to Telecharge to deal with my "lost-and-found" problem...

I would really have your friend stop by. Telecharge is going to talk to somebody, who is going to leave a message for somebody else, who might get around to talking to...you get the picture. The show is closing. It's thursday already of a holiday weekend. Have your friend stop by or say goodbye to your scarf.
I had only left something in the theatre once. It was after one of the preview performances of Rock of Ages. As I was walking out I noticed that my cell phone was missing. I asked one of the people at the stage door about it and they brought me inside. They had my phone but in order to make sure that they were giving it to the right person the guy that brought me in and asked for my number so that he could call my phone. I got it right away.
Earlier this year I had lost an earring at Phantom (it must have fallen off in the lobby when I took off my scarf, I didn't realize until I got home) and to my amazement when I went back the next night to inquire, they actually had it in the lost & found box!
The Music Box called around 7pm...they found my scarf!
