How to watch Tonys live on West Coast?

Hi there,

It'll be my first time on the West Coast during this Sunday's Tony Awards -- and I just discovered that they air on a delay here, at 8pm PT! Obviously, I can't accept this -- there's no way I can wait three hours to watch the winners be unveiled!

I'm browsing around trying to determine how I might be able to still watch them live -- suggestions I've found include CBS All Access (and just changing my time zone to Eastern Standard on my devices), but it seems the awards only air in select markets -- I suspect LA isn't one of them, as is often the case with awards shows. With Hulu Live, I fear the same might be true -- I ran into that with several of the red carpets on E! last year.

Does anyone have any advice or experience with watching the ceremony live from the West Coast?

Changing time zones won’t help whatsoever as these streaming sites determine your location via your IP address. How ever you’re connecting (cellular data or WiFi) you’ll never a VPN service that’ll help you modify your IP address to a west coast IP address. Once you modify your IP address, you can watch anything — even UK programming that is restricted the the UK.

Not so concerned about social media -- it's more about sharing the moments with my family/friends on the East Coast in real time!

I'm in San Francisco and two years ago I watched them live via USTVNow, an online streaming service for the Armed Forces overseas. You'll need to lie though since it is supposedly restricted to only troops serving overseas. I'm not in the military, but there is no checking or anything. Just set up an account. And it's free.

The streaming quality wasn't great and I had to reboot a few times, but it may have improved since then or could have been my connection.

In their station list find the CBS channel. If I recall, it was a station out of Pittsburgh or Philadelphia.

And *voila* you can watch the Tonys starting at 5PM on the West Coast.

PS: By the way...I learned about this option through this very website when the same question was asked. Or maybe it was that *other* Broadway forum?

Just sayin' that USTVNow is also a brilliant way to dazzle your friends with your knowledge and expertise at Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Watch the shows online live at 4 pm ET and then watch together with friends when they air on the west coast a few hours later.

I never do this of course. But I've heard other highly devious, shallow, and low-self-esteem folks do.
