At YANK! last night it was announced that all the Boys (and Girl) of YANK! will appear in a special pin-up calendar (going from May 2010 till June 2011), available for sale at the theater next week!
From what I heard, the YANK! snaps are based on classic WWII-era pin-ups, but with "a more outrageous edge". And Nancy Anderson has redone Betty Grable's iconic over-the-shoulder bathing suit photo!
Were you there last night, Tulita? I finally got to see it last night and was blown away (and also signed up for a calendar!). Already bought tix to see it again before it closes on the 4th. Can't wait to see what the calendar looks like.
This should be great.
I sure was, starlyricist! I was the tall bald guy in the blue blazer. Wannabeafoster was there too. :)
Glad you loved the show. I've seen it a few times and last night may have been the most powerful and moving performance yet. The cast was ON FIRE. And Bobby Steggert gives one of the most emotionally wrenching performance I've ever seen, right up there with Ebersole in GREY GARDENS and Ripley in NEXT TO NORMAL.
Ragtime made me a HUGE fan of Bobby Steggart, I'm sorry that I won't be able to see Yank before it closes. Are there any rumors about an extention????
Mama...I went on Sunday and the artistic director spoke before the show and said that despite what is being discussed in chat rooms, the show closes 4/4. I wish you could see it too...I think you'd like it.

I can't recall if this has been hashed over before, but are there any plans for a cast recording? Was one already made?
Thanks for the info...but, damn my not living in NY!
How do things like this work...Can the regional theaters and schools perform the show? I used to study at the Studio Theater in DC...I think they'd do a great job with it.
I am hopeful about a recording Ed...because I believe that the York sells cast recordings of shows they have done..and they are commited to original works. I don't know if the c/d's they cell in the Lobby are recordings of the shows they produced at their theater.
There is a group on facebook called Company Y....it's great fun to explore. I found some wonderful clips of Bobby singing there...made me even more enamored with him! Someone posted somewhere that the show could easily transfer to New World Stages...just speculation, but maybe if we all pray or meditate.... I saw Toxic Avenger there and I think the show would play well in a house that size.
Oh and Tulita...when I saw this thread...i thought you had gotten your calendar and were ready to post some images! I signed up for one as well.
Gator & Ed: A demo was cut about two years ago with Bobby, Ivan, Nancy & Jeffry and much of the current cast. All the songs are there - some (like "The Saddest Gal What Am") have a few lyric variations while "Stuck In a Cell"'s lyrics are entitely different. Most of the York CDs are of shows the York has done, so hopefully there will be an official YANK! CD there soon. I can't imagine it won't be recorded.
Mamma, YANK! was done regionally at the Diversionary Theater in San Diego in 2008. It was a big hit. It did not have the dream ballet but it was otherwise unchanged. So, yes, it's available! :)

And it was wonderful.
I would love a recording of the score.
The newer demo is awesome and it has Bobby Steggert and Ivan Hernandez so I can understand why those in charge might find a new recording to be slightly unnessisary. They'll probably just use the demo as the reference recording when licensing the show.

I saw the show Tuesday night, as well, and loved almost every second.

Just back from getting tickets for two out-of-town friends for tomorrows matinee. Caldendars, more mugs and T-shirts won't be in till next week!
Aren't they closing soon? Not much time to sell the calendar. I want one. I wonder if it'll be on-line somewhere?

I'm a little unclear about the demo recording. Will it be commercially available -- if not in stores, at least through Amazon or some other site? Or is the game plan to re-record the whole thing? Clarification, please.
Ed: I am pretty sure the demo will not be commercially available. I think the show will be re-recorded, as there are notable changes to several of the songs. I haven't heard for sure yet. As they say - "watch this space".
Cats: I hope to find out over the weekend how the York is planning to sell the calendars. Will let you know!
Except for a very few seats for tomorrows matinee and the matinee and evening shows on April 3, YANK! is now completely sold out.
[Mugs and T-shirts are available at the theater. No calenders yet...and no updates if they will be available online]
There were sign-up sheets after the show today for the calendars.
All proceeds go to BC/EFA.
Anyone know if these are available at the theater yet? I'm going again on Saturday and would love to pick one up.
I called, and they aren't there today. I was told "We dont know when they'll be here". Ugh. I sure hope they are in by Saturday!
When I was there on Sunday they said that the calendars wouldn't be available for purchase, so we should add our names to the mailing list, so they can contact us when they are ready.

It would be a SERIOUS mistake not to offer them online.
Seriously.
Great news! - Just recieved the following note from the York:
"We are being told thank YANK! Calendars supporting BC/EFA will be available at the theatre for purchase this weekend. Otherwise, they will be available for sale on their website - www.broadwaycares.org."
