Hey, y'all...I haven't been on in a while.
Sooo forgive me if this is old news, but Hugh Jackman will be (thus far, unconfirmed) appearing as the SOLO TENOR in "Springtime for Hitler" scene in the film of THE PRODUCERS...
:)
What a great cameo.
I, for one, can't wait.

Sooo forgive me if this is old news,
Actually, it's VERY new news, as I've never heard it anywhere else, even as a rumor.
Do you have a source, or is this one of the many rumors that got started and picked up as news? There are so many times someone says "what if?" and somehow that wish becomes a rumor that is reported as news.
It hasn't been reported in all those articles about Jackman's movie musicals deal with Disney, and you'd think they'd mention it.

actually i was wondering the same thing... Nugget, where did ya hear this?
I don't think this is true, it is a possible rumor, but I haven't really heard anything about it for a long time. I still hope that he is in the movie, but I don't really like the cast in the movie though.
Who's in the Producers? Matthew Broderick , Nathan Lane , Will Ferrell , Uma Thurman
This is about it for an article... but it DOESN'T TALK ABOUT THE PRODUCERS
Jackman, a star on stage in London's West End in the musical Oklahoma! and on New York's Broadway in The Boy From Oz, has also forged a successful movie career in Hollywood with the X-Men films and last year's Van Helsing.
The deal was hatched after Disney executives – Dick Cook and Nina Jacobson – saw Jackman in his Tony Award winning role as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz,.
"I went to see The Boy From Oz because Hugh was the only person I knew personally who could sing and dance, and I left thinking, 'How can we not try to find movies that capture these singing and dancing abilities and that charisma?'," Jacobson said.
"Dick and I are very gonzo about this. We are hoping writers and directors will come forward with ideas."
Musicals, led by Moulin Rouge and Chicago, have returned to favour in Hollywood.
"I'm lucky that at the time my career in movies was building, the movie musicals genre that had been in the desert for 20 years started to come back," Jackman said.
Under the deal, Disney will develop as many as three projects at the same time for Jackman. The projects could include a remake of a Hollywood classic, although the 36-year-old Sydney-born actor is a bit nervous about that.
"There might be a classic out there that can be redone and find an audience, but I am personally more interested in finding something new," Jackman said.
Jackman is also following the footsteps of some of Hollywood's most powerful actors in forming his own production company.
It is a move that gives him more control with his projects.
His partners in the company include John Palermo, Jackman's assistant on Van Helsing. Executive producers of the Oscar-winning Chicago, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, have also been recruited.
Jackman and Palermo will help produce the third X-Men film, in which Jackman will again star with his Wolverine character.
Also on the radar is a Wolverine spin-off film.

Well, that's the first I've heard of that, but if it's true-yay! That news made my day, Nugget.

That's actually quite funny. I was actually thinking today that itd be hilarious to fill the little cameo roles with big name actors, just to see how many big names they can get in one movie. If this is true, its a good thing, as Hugh will likely appear on the movie soundtrack (if the Lead Tenor is the role he is in fact playing, as he sings the first half of Springtime for Hitler)
I have heard the song before, and I would think that would be awesome. What I dont' understand is... why did they choose Uma Thurman? and even Nicole Kidman in the first place... But Hugh is pretty busy, so I guess we'll have to see.

I know this may sound odd... but would him making a cameo be appropriate yet? I would think that he would wait on this sort of thing until he is "known" for his abilities in musical theatre (besides the community who knows him from THE BOY FROM OZ, and on a smaller public scale, OKLAHOMA!), Hugh is still known for his action roles in X-MEN and VAN HELSING I would think.
However it could be one of those things where an audience leaves the theatre talking, "THAT WAS HUGH JACKMAN!?!"

AnothaPartofMe, I don't get your rationale at all.
I sort of get it... I guess. Are you trying to say maybe if he wants to be in a broadway movie... then he should be a bigger part? In a way, I kind of agree. Hugh has never been in a Broadway movie that went to the big screen, maybe he should wait. But we could also be talking about this for nothing, the rumors of him being in The Producers could be wrong

That makes no sense whatsoever. It's just a cameo; what's the harm?
"Hugh has never been in a Broadway movie that went to the big screen, maybe he should wait. "
Yes he has.
He was in the Oklahoma movie a couple of years ago.
Yes but that was never on the movie "big screen". I do have the movie, but it wasn't in theaters. Isn't the Producers going to be in theaters? That is the type of big screen that I meant.

I've never heard anything about Jackman playing this cameo role. I'd think he's not exactly right for the part which calls for a young blond Aryan type. Hugh's not that young and would he dye his hair blond to play the part?
Broadway Legend Joined: 3/4/04
Oh, geez. I don't even want to think of what he'd look like with a stupid Colin Farrell dye job.
I don't know... but I think he would look really strange with blond hair. Does the character have to be blond?
