I would imagine, long term, that a US tour or Broadway production might also be in the works.

I think his dad is quite ill. Maybe he wants to spend time closer to his dad's home?

He has always wanted to bring this show ( which is a personal musical retrospective) home to Australia. It is something that has always been on his mind as a show for Australians. But the timing resulted in the show going to SanFrancisco and Toronto before it went to Broadway. It has also played in Istanbul.

It looks like he is playing in large arenas for this 8-concert date series. The first one will be in Melbourne at the Rod Laver Arena ( where the Australia Tennis Open is held).
If you had a chance to see his TBFO arena tour in 2006, it will be a different kind of audience - very exhuberant and very appreciative! They do love him over there!

His father is suffering a health problem related to aging, but he looks relatively alright from the recent photo posted by Hugh on his social media account. Their photo together is now his avatar or picture profile.
