aw your first time seeing Phantom ! You will love it...it is amazing and it does not hardly matter where you sit in my opinon. Although you could miss the little things, the main action is still there & just being there to see it is exciting enough.

Speaking of Phantom Tickets, I just bought tickets for me & a friend today to go see it in April..we got Center Orchaestra Row A on BroadwayBox...it will be my 3rd time and my first sitting this close, I mean last time I had Row H Center and 1st time I had row Q, so its going to be awesome having these seats for it! I cannot wait

Have fun seeing Phantom on your night too, coolkid11776 !

Come on babe we're gonna paint the town...and all that jazz...

I've seen PHANTOM 17 times from various locations - NY, Toronto and Buffalo and would go another 17.
The probleem with some seats - if directly under the chandelier, you lose the effect when it falls. You really don't think it will fall on you.
Seeing if from the balcony it seems to get smaller as it falls.

No matter what, the other effects are good from almost any seat.

People who don't like Phantom are weird. :)

"You really don't think it will fall on you."

One doesn't think that from ANY seat. It goes down slower than Huckabee.

And you do realize you're answering this question THIRTEEN months late...? re: I FINALLY GOT PHANTOM TICKETS

GOOD FOR YOU!

now do yourself a favor, return the tickets, and spend that more wisely.

Man I wish I would have been around these boards last year when so many people ganged up on those anti-long-runners, anti-phantom people. It seems like most of the posters who shut those bullies down dont post anymore---thus the hugely common anti-phantom posts we have to deal with.

Rally, George, rally! I usually just wait around for you to speak up. These people intimidate me. LOL

But seriously, it strikes me as both snobbish and immature to just pop up, contribute nothing more than "phantom sucks" and wait for people to get upset over it. I'm not upset, mind you, I just find it annoying.

Enjoy the show Coolkid. PotO for all it is worth is pretty decent mind-candy for 3 hours.

I am posting just to realize that I changed A TON in the past year. I went from being very cold and bitter and a Phantom hater to actually loving the show and being a bit nicer.

Dear CoolK: I sincerely wish you a fantastic time at Phantom. Row H is practically the best row in the house. About 8 rows from the stage, you'll see everything perfectly. Have pizza across the street at John's. Fun!

The show is overrated. I'm not saying it's terrible, but most of the stuff out there is really much better. The whole state of the show right now is waning, I've seen it twice (once this past month just to make sure I didn't just see a bad performance last time) and the cast could not have been less interesting. The ensemble should go through electroshock treatments before entering the stage. All the canned music and the stupid body doubles are always off, both times I saw the show (there are two doubles for phantom and Christine when the go up and down several ramps to get to his lair and) there were two phantoms and two christines onstage AT THE SAME TIME. The show's storyline seems very muddled, as if no one in the cast is really playing the show as a full piece. when's the last time Hal Prince stepped in to tweak?!

Winston89 - I know what you are talking about (well not Phantom with me but Wicked). Time changes everything.

I just wanna say, that I know it is a big fad now to hate on Phantom, and the reason I did see it twice was because many people here really had nothing to back their hate other than "Webber steals from other people!!!" I don't know enough about classical music to affirm that, but I will say that overall, it is an incredibly mediocre show. It's design is quite good, as is the choreography (when dancers show feeling, or a pulse) but the direction bores me and most of the book and lyrics make it really hard to want to care for any of the characters.

I prefer Yeston's Phantom because it is a more human story. Webber's Phantom makes it this big dramatic story (big enough to start in the future, as if the memory lives on or something) and then none of the characters are really that interesting.

Oddly I didn't buy into the Webber steals in Phantom bit. I mean he is writing about an Opera Company. He naturally had to spoof a few famous composers and shows in the shows-within-the-shows.

Hal Prince was just at Phantom last Wednesday to give notes to the cast. He is well-known as being a directo who keeps a close eye on long-running hits like Phantom. The show will have its off days, but it will not fall apart like Les Mis or REnt did. (and don't get offended i'm a huge fan of both those shows too even though they were not maintained as well as Phantom is maintained)

There was a discount code for that date, did you use it? And those seats are good.

Why dig up a thread that is over a year old?

He's seen the show by now (Considering the tickets were for LAST Feb.)...
