And this is one reason why I am searously considering not seeing this show. I don't like the whole "aren't we cleaver" thing this show has going for it. It comes off as very full of itself and the writers come of as very full of themselves and very full of their work when they go on saying how great it is and how funny it is.

Let the people be the ones who decide if it is either great or funny. Don't be the ones to tell us.

I'm seeing it next Friday or Saturday and trust the opinion of my two friends who adore it, but I am a little afraid of the self-awareness.

I found a lot of that "aren't we clever, aren't we smart" running through "Spelling Bee" a few years back and while I still liked that show a lot, it left a bit of an aftertaste.

The solution is simple.

Just ship all who don't love [tos] to the [tos] hater's special interment camp. It is on the same ground as the Passing Strange Hater's Camp, as most of that evil breed have been pretty thoroughly, shall we say, dealt with.

If you want to see the show, do so. But don't let someone who (my guess is jokingly) uses the word HATE keep you from it.

See, I certainly recognize that opinions are going to differ, one person's meat is another's poison, yes, of course. But when people start referring to [tos] as "fantastic" and "brilliant" and even, I kid you not, "healing" I have to start wondering what is up.

I saw the show, I mostly enjoyed it but found it a bit prolonged: as Isherwood says, the self-referential gimmick wore thin afte a while.

Why would someone HATE someone just because they had different opinions about one particular show? Some of my best friends disagree with me about some shows that I liked but I don't HATE them for it.

don't worry - the hype will die down within 2 months. the only people seeing it at this moment are theater nerds. i don't think non-theather people will have an ounce of interest in this. if they do, they'll probably leave during intermission because it's too confusing for them.
