It was home made at this restaurant 'The General Greene' on Dekalb Ave in Ft Greene Brooklyn.
They had a stand outside. It was amazing.

I see! I was thinking maybe it was that new ice cream brand, blue bunny, I've heard so much about. There was a spot on tv for it, with some fabulous sounding flavor. I'd like to try it.

Oh, I remember ice cream. It used to be so delicious!

Now I get sugar-free/fat-free frozen yogurt that tastes like wallpaper paste.

I have good memories, though!

My favorite ice cream is Purple Cow, homemade at a lil ice creamery on Spring Street in Williamstown, MA. It's black raspberry ice cream with chunks of white and dark chocolate, and the texture is SO soft. And those chunks of chocolate are more like rectangle pieces. SO SO good!

My ice cream passion is butter crunch at Friendly's. Not homemade or anything but still so good. And some butterscotch sauce and it's heaven.

Blue Bunny new?? It's been around for forever, but it's mostly a midwest thing, I think, although WalMart carries it. I haven't seen Blue Bunny since I was a kid, but they've just started carrying it in LA, it seems. I've been seeing the same commercials, too, recently. It's OK ice cream, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Tillamook (Pacific Northwest only) is far far better.

I'm still trying to get my mind around "salted" and "caramel" in the same mouthful.

I live in Williamstown and eat Purple Cow ice cream all the time! It's very tasty! They also just introduced a new blueberry flavor - I forget the name, but it's also very good!
I'm as jumpy as a virgin at a prison rodeo!

In the south we have Blue Bell, their banana split is out of this world.

And I just tried "custard" at Shake Shack. Oh my lord that stuff is like crack!

There is an ice cream brand in Columbus OH called Jeni's that has some really interesting flavors like that. You can have it delivered, they put it on dry ice for you.

Jeni's has a Salty Caramel as well. It does sound like a weird combo but it's great. They also had one that was like a Maker's Mark with pecans or something. And a lavender raspberry. But I think they change them seasonally or something?

My respectful answer is "NO". People have to realize that one in 8 people in America have some form of diabetes. I will keep this up until every restaurant in the USA provides diabetc-friendly choices on the menu and when every dinner host realizes that not every guest can enjoy the Baked Alaska that is being served for dessert.

I was happy to learn that the church leadership conference I attended yesterday provided good healthy alternatives at the luncheon buffet. When I expressed my appreciation for that I was told that they re-thought the menu when someone called a few weeks prior to the event inquiring if the lunch would take into consideration people on special diets. (Guess who that person was?)

So go ahead and enjoy your favorite ice cream. I'm serious. Just take a split second to be grateful for the fact that you're able to do so without causing any health problems. You're the lucky ones!

Sounds interesting. I'm not a big fan of unusual/mixed flavors. Give me a scoop of plain old chocolate and I'll be happy. Although, I do love Moose Tracks.

I love moose tracks...haven't had it in a while though. My most recent favorite flavor has been queso real, it actually has cheese chunks in it >.< and I've been meaning to pay another visit to that ice cream place in chinatown...

Oh Dolly, quit your whining. No, everyone does not enjoy the Baked Alaska- especially when they have to share a table with you yammering how unfair it is she can't eat Ice Cream. So we add Fresh strawberries as a "Healthy" choice, and Betty whines because they look so delicious and she's allergic- so unfair to her. Meanwhile, Yolanda is complaining that there was no decaffeinated Tea served. Paul has Gluten intolerance and wants a corn muffin instead of a hard roll with his salad. Kim, meanwhile, is worried the salad may not be organic and her partner Sherrie is a raw fooder. I don't know what we can feed her.

You're supposedly a teacher- obviously not of manners. Learn some. If the host offers you a dish you can't eat- say "oh no thank you, but it does look lovely!" Half the people at the table don't like or don't eat SOMETHING and the last thing a host needs is you barking out your substitution like a short order cook.

And that Chinatown Ice Cream place is awesome. Try the fresh Ginger ice cream It's yummy.
