What, no San Francisco support for Bi-Rite here?! Surely some of you have tried it.
I just had the Toasted Coconut for the first time. I'm a big fan of the Mint Chocolate, too. I have yet to try Balsamic Strawberry, but want to.

Yes, Howard Johnson's ice cream was delicious, and not only for tourists. Their Swiss Chocolate Almond was terrific, so too their pistachio. They also had an ice cream cake roll that I loved. They also made great ice cream sodas, in which the soda ran down the sides of the glass. I miss all these treats, as well as the restaurant on the corner of Broadway and 46th Street, where the 50's decor remained unchanged up until its closing day. I went there that day and reminisced with the waiters and the cashier who had been there so many years. It was an integral part of my theatre going experience, and I'm sorry it's gone.

Ben and Jerry's Phish Food is far and away my favorite ice cream.
My only problem with it is that they don't seem to sell it at grocery stores in anything bigger than a pint!

Are Ben & Jerry's flavors EVER available in anything but pint-sized anywhere but an official B&J creamery? (B&J creamery - OY!)
I've never seen them, if so. Though you can buy as much as you want at the official creameries in VT and elsewhere, of course.
On second thought, I don't want to know the answer to that question. No self-control.

LizzieCurry, I had Bi-Rite yesterday. I had the salted caramel. It was a little too sweet but still really really good. My friend had the lavender honey. I tried some of hers and didn't care for it because it tasted just like the smell of the laundry detergent I use. I also tried the strawberry balsamic and didn't think there was enough balsamic in it.

I'm mad that I can't eat Haagen-Dasz anymore, because apparently they're distributed by Nestle in the U.S. and I'm boycotting Nestle. But when I eat Ben & Jerry's or gelato from the local super-fancy gelato place I feel much better. 
(Some favorite flavors: yogurt gelato, grapefruit vodka, vanilla bourbon, Americone Dream, mint chocolate chip and all variations thereof...)
