Didn't see the flick, but maybe it'll get on the tube, the way Legally Blonde has.
XANADU is fabulously campy, over the top & doesn't take itself seriously for a nanasecond. Jumped up & down cheering...
Will be back to see it again!

Me too! :) Glad to see someone putting something positive about it.
It seems like a fun campy show, I wish I could see it.
The movie was terrible, but this might work onstage.

I have a weird feeling that Muscle is going to love this show.

The show is absolutely adorable... The second preview had a few mishaps but over all a very enjoyable evening... I would go again. The audience loved it!!! The book is hysterical and the the cast is amazing... Highly recommended! Kerry Butler truly makes her mark,It is a very funny performance, James Carpinello is very good. His line readings are spot on... a charming leading man indeed... Curtis Holbrook and the ensemble are amazing and Ms Testa and Ms, Hoffman are grand! It is a very entertaing 90 minutes... Go and have a good laugh and watch some really talented people perform with great skill and energy. It really will surprise you. Bravo!!! I hope it runs for a long time
I can totally see muscle loving this show. Maybe we'll have another show to chat about again. I'll probably be seeing this summer.
When are they doing the $19.80 ticket special again to the people who show up in 80s wear or rollar skates?
It already happened.
I think the $19.80 tickets were only given out the day the box office opens. However, I believe every Monday (don't quote me on this) they'll be selling half price tickets to those who either skate or show up in 80s outfits while the show is in previews.

I saw the second preview last night as well. I have to agree, this show is brillant! I love how they made a total mockery of the movie.
Kerry does a dead-on Olivia Newton John, right down to the accent.
Mary Testa and Jackie Hoffman are over the top, stealing nearly every scene they are in!
I even loved Tony Roberts performance as a character a million miles away from the Gene Kelly role in the movie. He has such a wonderful voice.
I am hoping to go back in a few weeks. Hopefully, the technical glitches will be worked out by then.
One more note, Kerry said at the stage door last night that Olivia Newton John will be at opening night performance.
Good god.
I hear if you show up to Grey Gardens dressed as Jerry, they give you free corn on the cob.
Well- It nice to hear from the 2nd night previewers that they liked the show. Its also nice to hear positive comments/ reviews about the show. - I cant hardly wait to see it myself and find it for myself, if I like it or not- Thanks guys for the positive reviews-J*
Besty, two questions:
Is that an euphemism? And if so, does Matt Cavenaugh give you the corn on the cob himself?
*Gets ready to dress up as Jerry*
90 minutes? Is the two hour Broadway show going the way of the 2 and 1/2 hour movie?
Do they show a news reel and a cartoon first?
My taste is very unpredictible, so I won't know unless I see it, but the previews looked like fun. If it runs for quite awhile, I'll be able to see it, since I have no plans to go to NY yet.
Thanks for the compliments Singing and Theatredude,
Welcome back TLK!
I was bowled over by Jackie Hoffman & Mary Testa. May I say that Mary looks indescribably beauuuutiful. Whoever did her costumes, hair & makeup is super. Hoffman & Testa were not just over the top. They were gloriously over the moon!
Butler sounds just like ONJ & when the fella directs the blowing fan fr the orchestra on to KB DSR & her hair started to billow, I almost wet myself I laughed so hard. There are so very many irreverant bits & what I imagine are takeoffs on the film (which I can't wait to see now). All I know is that I heard the aud howl along with me in reaction to every single bit.
James Carpinello has gorgeous legs! & the rest ain't too shabby either.
Tony Roberts looks like he's having a blast on stage, as indeed does the entire cast. The ensemble is perfect for this show.
Young babyboomers, POUNCE! Brings back fun memories.
Milla, a wild child again
Please tell me that Carpinello appears shirtless.
No.
that should be one of the changes they make during previews though...
Isn't he a bit young for you, WAT?
He's good looking and has perfect legs. A prime example of my obsession with Italian men.
way way too young for me, but it is a fact that he is hot.
