It's DAMN GOOD.
Simple, heartfelt, great music, great voices. I was really touched by it and the show might not be for everyone, but it will have a far reaching appeal for multiple demographics. It also has "touring show" written all over it because of the low cost
to send it out and run it. Road promoters are gonna jump all over this one.
In short, it's a great little show on a whole bunch of levels...
Anyone else predicting:
Passing Strange
In The Heights
Xanadu
Glory Days?

GOOD LORD. It's been in rehearsal for like two days!!! Sure your review is positive, but jesus, at LEAST let them get to the first preview.

Oh for God's sake lighten up, Shesa.
Since when is there a "proper" time to post a review?
If it's good it's good whether it's a rehearsal, a preview, or a performance.
Easy there slugger.

This is hilarious. I would have guessed they would be sitting in chairs learning music. Were you watching a blocking rehearsal?
Glad you liked it stephen3! I am so incredibly excited to see this show!

No I wasn't watching a blocking rehearsal. I was watching the final run through in the
rehearsal studio before they move into the theatre to begin tech on the show tomorrow.
To say that they have "been in rehearsal" for 2 days is accurate, but not really. The show is a transfer from the Signature Theatre in DC and is coming to Broadway (at least to begin previews) with only very minor alterations from the DC run and one added song. The last 2 days of rehearsal for them has been "brush-up" rehearsal.
As of now the show is 95 percent the same as it was at Signature...and it's really great.

This board is a riot. You saw a run through - which leads me to believe you have some affiliation to the show. I wish the show the best, but give me a break. I agree with the other poster here - can we please wait for a preview? You can start shilling then.

I actually have no involvement with the show, but my boss is one of the investors and I went with him because he knows I'm a theatre fan and he wanted to get my opinion.
Contrary to what you may think or believe, I am not a "shill".
I don't think that I will be posting here again. Some of you are really really nasty.
I mean seriously...what gives? Why are some of you this hateful and suspicious
to someone who was trying to share with you what (I thought) would be of interest.
Don't let people here get to you. For what it's worth, I liked reading what you had to say, even if what you saw was just a run-through rehearsal.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I personally can't wait to see it!
And it was nice to get your opinion since I really haven't heard anything about the show except that it is going to be on Broadway.

Oh please. If you'd come on this board saying "This is the most horrible show I'd ever seen!" everyone would be jumping down your throat saying that they'd barely started rehearsal. Just because your review is positive, doesn't change the fact that it's incredibly rude to sit in on a rehearsal of a show and share your opinions with the world. Reviews of gypsy runs are bad enough - this is a whole new level.
And I'll say it again - I'm more excited for this show than anyone. I begged my friends to drive me down to Signature and none did, and now a friend is closely involved. I wish nothing but the best for it.
I enjoyed reading your review! If you hadn't wrote that review than
I would have no interest in seeing it! But now I do. I agree everyone is mean. (Except for a few people, you know who you are)

I heard the show is good too based on a run through. . . from stephen3 who "has no involvement in the show, but [his] boss is one of the investors . . ."
Cant wait to see this! Let's see.. if its really that good?

Stephen, are the boys hot? I'll bet they are HOT. Do they take their shirts off? Which one is the gay character? Do you think Clay would be good in this show? I do.
shesamarshmallow, I just squealed with laughter over your icon.
<3 Ood! <3
stephen3, write whatever you want here. Good or Bad. That's what its here for!
No matter what you write, someone is bound to respond-they always do!

Thanks fishergirl! I'm sure you're one of the... three (maybe) people on this bored not scratching their heads at it. :)

YEAH! How dare someone post a positive reaction to viewing a run-through of a show that has already had an out-of-town run complete with reviews and will open with very few changes! Who do you think you are trying to get people interested in seeing a show? Creating positive buzz is shameful, I tell you, SHAMEFUL! Your detailed, layered, obviously professional and spoiler-filled critique of the show, its creators, design team and performers has now ruined the experience for everyone, including all other professional critics who might as well not even show up on press night since it's all been covered already. Don't you know that no one ever knows what happens in a rehearsal? There are no blogs, articles or interviews in which anyone ever states their feelings about a show in any stage of its rehearsals EVER. For this you should be banned from all theatres worldwide and probably thrown in prison for life with Carrot Top as a cell mate and only Slim Jims for food. How will I ever form my own opinion now?

well played, mister matt. nailed it on the head.
this board can be vicious. i barely post here, and there's so much i could say. thank you to the original poster for getting me excited about a lovely little-show-that-could.

Then comment on its out-of-town tryout, or any other public performance where reviews are expected. If I'm rehearsing, my performance isn't for you yet. REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THE COMMENTS WERE POSITIVE, it's rude to review a private rehearsal.
I give up, though.
