it's rude to review a private rehearsal
What about when it's not a review? Someone was allowed to attend a run-through and they said they liked what they saw. That is not a review in any sense of the word.

I really hope to catch this over the summer...
I told Nick I'd be around on or around opening night.
Here's wishing the boys all the best!
Thanks for the thoughtful review!

Well if the shoe fits.
There are no rules about when you can or can't say a show was good or where you can say that and when. Stop pretending like there are.
I see no problem with what the original poster said. particularly when they didn't post any sort of review at all and just said that they saw a run through and it was good.
I agree with Mister Matt yet again. The original poster didn't even write a review. They just said that they liked it pure and simple.
Is saying something good about a show rude? Of course not. It would be rude for example if the original poster didn't like the show and walked up to one of the actors and said "if your smart you would never get on a Broadway stage in your life." That would be rude. But, It isn't rude to say something nice about a work of theatre in any way shape or form.
Just because you have a problem about this stop trying to force your opinions on other people and say how this forum should be run.

I look forward to seeing the show in previews, if my schedule permits. If not I'll have to wait until after opening.
Much success to all involved and thanks for your input stephen3. Much appreciated.

Here's what I think is ridiculous-someone raves about a show he/she saw in rehearsal, and already another person is listing said show for a possible Tony. oy.
Gotta shake my head on that one.

Um... just the fact that it's opening makes it a possibility for a Tony. So what's your point?

Um,
The show didn't even start previews yet. ONE person posted an opinion of a REHEARSAL. To start talking Tony is ludicrous at this point in time.
" just the fact that it's opening makes it a possibility for a Tony. "
Yeah, so let's start listing some shows that didn't start rehearsals yet for Tonys also, after all, they will be opening!

Jane2,
You obviously did not understand my sarcasm.
Or read the rest of this thread.
Glory Days is being presented almost exactly as it was at the Signature Theatre. People saw it there and enjoyed it. Considering the fact that the other shows this season got pretty bad (or downright awful) reviews, why is it "ridiculous" that someone is predicting it for the fourth slot at the Tonys?
Shrek hasn't started previews yet, but it's opening next season... so I predict it will be a nominee for Best Musical. And that's not a ridiculous claim because it will be opening on Broadway and SOMETHING has to be nominated. So why not that?
Understand the reasoning?

liar, of course I read the rest of the thread! I'm not in the habit of posting without doing that.
Anyway, I guess I didn't get your sarcasm - when people start out with "um", it's hard to know they're just kidding around!

"To start talking Tony is ludicrous at this point in time."
My my my the drama queens are out in force this evening!
It's someones opinion on something that might, or might not happen. It's not as if they're saying it will happen, it's just an opinion.
Sheesh!

Posted: 4/19/08 at 5:59pmThe original poster barely posted an in depth review. I agree that comments on rehearsals should be taken extremely lightly especially if it was a run-through...if you know this, then the poster's comments shouldn't make or break whether or not you will see a show. Form your own opinion.

Posted: 4/20/08 at 4:48pmFor those who have either gone to a rehearsal or have been to Circle in the Square, what seats/section would you recommend? I just went to order tickets and was shown left orchestra, but there are also floor seats available. Since the layout is different from any other show I've seen, any recommendations would be appreciated.
