I checked in on Something Rotten last night to catch McClure, Grisetti, Kritzer and Will Chase before he leaves in a few weeks. The show is in fantastic shape and McClure in particular was terrific. I mean really good. I'm rooting for this guy to have a long career.
For the past few years I've been so used to thinking of Chase as Luke Wheeler that it was nice to see him let loose with an Adam Lambert type Shakespeare.
Grisetti was awkwardly endearing and Kritzer was the most subdued I've seen her, and that's not a bad thing.
With not all that much exciting new stuff playing, now is the perfect time to make a return trip to the St James to catch McClure and company.

I agree Whizzer! I saw it just last week, and thought Rob McClure gave a terrific performance. He's 1 of those actors who feels perfectly sunk into the role, and you forget you're watching a play. A real pleasure.

I caught it again recently, as well, and while I expected Chase and McClure to do well and give us a new take on things, Grisetti was really the wow factor to me. I'm sure I saw him onstage before, but this was the time when I really was like "Who is that?" and was looking him up in my Playbill during intermission.

I'm glad to hear it's in such good shape! I'm going soon, and I'm very much looking forward to it. It's not every day that we get replacement casts of this caliber.

Anyone who saw him in Chaplin, would agree that Rob McClure is an incredible performer.

Rob McClure was amazing when I saw him in Something Rotten! the day that Christian, Heidi, John, and Kate left the show. I adore Rob McClure, too!
After I saw the matinee of Something Rotten! that day, the people in charge of running the stage door were pretty disorganized and they cancelled the stage door that day, so none of the actors were able to come out. A lot of people waited anyway just in case, and about 10 minutes later Rob McClure walked out! Even though there was no barricade set up and it was just a big crowd of people, he stayed to sign Playbills/take pictures/talk to people and he was so nice and thanked everyone for coming to the show. He literally got around to everyone, which took a while, and he's definitely one of the nicest actors that I've ever met at the stage door. ![]()

They weren't disorganized.....they were told no one was stage door ingredients.
Anyway, I haven't seen him in this (saw original cast and have no desire to see it again) I did get to see him in both Chaplin and the Noises Off revival. He brings such a light of joy onto the stage and is incredibly genuine.
I'm a fan.

lol I phrased it wrong, the people running it cancelled the stage door that day themselves even though there were actors that did want to come out (Heidi even came out for a second and said "sorry guys, I can't sign today but thanks for seeing the show!). sorry about that!
