I loved it, but it appears it's not for everybody. I'm okay with that.

I was there soon after it opened, heard all the tunes, and was really looking forward. From where we sat in the front mez, we couldn't hear much of the dialogue, especially when Girl, Christine Melloti (pardon the spelling) spoke. She obviously had some funny lines because the people down below were cracking up. We could hear her sing, but still couldn't understand a word.
I understood the show more after seeing the Forbidden Broadway parody.
I loved Once. I hated Spring Awakening. And I thought Kinky Boots was merely okay.
These things happen.
I laughed, I cried.
But mostly I cried.
Mumford and Sons love this musical. It's part of their bold plan to take over all entertainment in this country.
If you find yourself in central florida, go see "Country Bear Jamboree" the 2nd bear from the right will tell you the whole story. The password is "Keltic", but it is pronounced with a soft K.

What every happened to the rabid ONCE fan? Is she still clocking in attendance?
I must confess that Once is one of the few current shows I've not seen and really don't care to.
My husband and I have a thing -- we listen in the car to Sirius radio a lot, always on the Broadway channel. From time to time a song will start that neither of us knows. When it is dull, slow, and just plain a bore -- we turn to each other and say "It must be Once", and sure enough, it almost always is!
Cristen is singlehandedly saving How I Met Your Mothers ridiculous last season. Her scenes are pretty much the only ones worth watching. If only she was on more.
Totally agree Sue, she is so magical on screen, and her and Ted have such incredible chemistry. Marshall's story line is horrible and I'm bored of the hotel.
I'd rather watch ONCE a dozen times than an ALW megamusical, and a hundred times rather than a Wildhorn debacle, but to each their own.
To me, the delicacy and fragility of ONCE is a valuable commodity amongst the bombastic Broadway musicals. Same reason I have both Joni Mitchell and Metallica on my iPod... different art for different purposes, but they both fulfill their goals.
"What a waste of time"
Just like this thread!
patash, that's me exactly. no desire. I hate to judge a show just on hearing snippets of music but that is one show that just hasn't convinced me that I would like it. and you are exactly right about Sirius broadway channel. I do the same thing. boring, unknown... probably Once. and I applaud those who love it but I just don't think I would get it. and now that it is well beyond its original cast there is probably less chance of impressing me.
I downloaded the cast recording because I asked random people what recordings to download and almost every single person said "Once". I listened to the first song and immediately turned it off. I need to force myself one day to really sit down and listen to it all the way through, I just have no motivation to do that lately.

This is all I can think every time I see this thread.
