I got the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Cast Recording!

Hey all!

I finally got the YF Cast Recording. It's a great looking CD. I know some of you have already been buying it off of iTunes!

The CD sounds great... definitely sounds great. The booklet comes with complete lyrics and color pictures. The songs also have great dialogue!

It truly is a great CD...I saw the show on Thanksgiving and I've been singing some of the songs ever since. It's a great show, IMO!

Hope you all like it!

P.S. Thanks WannaBeAFoster!

I have had the YF cd for a little under a week now, and I cannot get into it. I saw the show and remember liking the music much more than I do on the CD. But I cannot get the XANADU cd off of the repeat mode on my IPOD. Strange.

^Loves it. I just got YF today and also can't get into it. Xanadu has been on repeat for a few weeks.

i got YF today too but am holding off til i see it in january... its almost impossible... i had to go ahead and listen to Please Don't Touch Me. Megan is my hero...

And as for Xanadu I actually think the recording is a little hard to listen to straight through.... basically just any time the old man comes in (forgive me for not recalling his name)... i mean he sounds great but he sort of becomes the "Something Bad" (forgive the Wicked reference) of the cast recording... I mean Never Far Away is good but I don't like him cutting in on Cheyenne's gorgeous vocals on Don't Walk Away... anyone else?

But I do love me some Kerry-accent

For me, YF songs are only enjoyable while watching them performed. They are not the kind of songs that will have you singing for days after you've seen the show. I have many OBC recordings that I play over and over, but this wont' be one of them. But sung in context with the story and performances, they are fine.

I bought the recording this afternoon outside of the Hilton theater...I LOVE IT! From someone who truly enjoyed the show and a majority of the songs, I think the recording is extremely well done and a lot of fun to listen to. The only complaint I have is unfortunately against Christopher Fitzgerald- I don't think he put his "all" into the songs. Nevertheless, great cd, pick it up asap!

Am I the only one who cannot get enough of Megan Mullally on this cast recording?

She is hilarious.

The only music I have heard from this are the ones they performed on the Today show, and I was not overly impressed.
I will, of course, have to buy it eventually, but there are a few other CDs on my list to get before this one.

Who else out there has bought it without seeing the show yet? What do you think of the music?

re: I got the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Cast Recording!

I bought the only song from the show that amuses me, "Roll in the Hay", on iTunes. I was kind of saddened to hear that Sutton had a bit of trouble with her first big, higher "ROLL". It just sounds like her throat had something in it of something like that. Ha.

re: I got the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Cast Recording!

I bought the CD on iTunes, but I'm itching to buy the actual CD. I will eventually. But I bought it without seeing the show first, I personally love the songs. I think it's a lot of fun. But then again I don't know if it's just because Sutton's in it. I have a tendicy of falling in love with anything shes in. Naturally I LOVE Roll in zhe Hay and Listen to your Heart. But I also love many songs that Sutton doesn't sing. Please Don't Touch Me is amazing. Life, Life just sounds brilliant, esp when you picture what must be going on the stage. I've really fallen in love with Rogar's voice, though, it's so pure, very pretty.

Ok, I'm done my rant now.

I think the recording is great. The orchestra is top notch, and the performances, overall are fun. Some songs work better than others, but most are fairly catchy.

As lovely as Sutton is with her voice, her accent is very inconsistent. There are moments she has the whole German thing down fairly well, and other moments where she uses complete American sounding vowels and speech. That's my only real complaint.

Got mine in the mail today too. I think it's great! Really enjoy it very much!

re: I got the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN Cast Recording!

Something that I like about Roger Bart's voice, as opposed to Matthew Broderick, who many thought was going to originally play this role, is, Roger has a true musical theatre voice. The man can really sing. Matthew Broderick was taught to hold a tune for HOW TO SUCCEED... and he's fine, but I don't particularly enjoy hearing Broderick sing. Bart really does have a beautiful voice. I don't think it's showcased here as well as it was in "Supper Time" for CHARLIE BROWN, but it's still nice to have a real singer at the helm of this show.
