Beyonce Knowles is negotiating to star in DreamWorks' "Dreamgirls," the Bill Condon-directed adaptation of the Broadway hit that's a thinly veiled story of the rise of Diana Ross and the Supremes.

Wow. Some of you guys suck.

Just because Beyonce's considering "starring" in the film doesn't mean that she'll be portraying Effie. And she would be stellar in the supporting roles. She's gorgeous, and she has a great voice. ESPECIALLY for the type of music in "Dreamgirls". To say otherwise is just sophomoric.

Here's why Beyonce can have this role..because she's BEAUTIFUL. And she can SING. And she's probably miles ahead of you talentless wannabes in all possible ways.

So here's a crazy idea. Why don't you people wait to see her in it BEFORE you judge? There have been a lot of people who I've seen in roles that were SO much better than I expected them to be. Getting all bent out of shape just BECAUSE she's a mainstream performer is just as asinine as assuming that Broadway performers can't make the leap to mainstream.

As other's said, Knowles can sing, and I think she's great for a role. I mean, they had to cast at least one big name, it's DreamWorks' thing. They always get the worst voices. But I think this time they got it right.

Bill Condon is an excellent director and screenwriter. He's been able to get great performances out of actors I never thought twice about before (read: Brendan Fraser in "Gods and Monsters").

Eh. I can see it, I guess.
I think she lacks the innocent, naturally glamorous effortlessness that Deena has to be.
I think Beyonce is complicated, vocally and looks-wise, and not simple.

Deena doesn't riff.
I hope Condon or whoever directs won't let her riff.

Now they have to find a BRILLIANT Effie and Lorrell.
