I was wondering if there were any good monologues from musicals that would be appropriate for am 18 year old female. I need to do a monologue for my acting class and the professor wants us to really dig into it. I find that I can get more involved with musicals so I am trying to find a monologue from a musical. Any ideas?

Try Gooch from Mame--not sure if she has any monologues, but she might--if not, check the play...
Fay Apple in Anyone Can Whistle
Squeaky in Assassins (Not sure if she has a monologue)
Cinderella
The Secret Garden
Just a few ideas..not sure if they will be helpful at all

Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:42pmI would just go and buy a monologue book. The best way to find monologues is to actually read the plays straight through, b/c monologue books are overdone, but it sounds like you're in a bind for time. I like monologues that have an arc, as opposed to staying in one place for the whole piece, and that's usually what makes the monologue more interesting. I did a monologue about a driver in rush hour traffic, and while it was funny, it was just this guy bitching about rush hour, and it didn't go anywhere. I like mine to have a decision made or a change by the end of the piece. Best of luck!

-My fault, I fear.
