Hi I just got im from seeing In My Life and all I can say is that I have never seen anything like this before. I sat on the train asking my brother what did we just see. He was ready to leave after the seconmd song but I made him stay. The sad part is that the cast is so talented. If the show lost 10 songs and somone rewrote the book it might have had a chance. Also needed a real theater director as well. I must say the costumes and sets were very imaginable. But had I paid $100 for this ticket I would have felt violated. I hope someday son someone comes up wtih original musical on Broadway that is good.
exactly what I asked myself after the show. Definitely a few moments of "huh??" before my brain even attempted to make sense of it all.

If all you're going to get when you go to a show is what you expect or are used to, why go?

I excepect to see a show that is worth the good money I am paying. I work very hard for my money and I feel that this show is not worth the ticket price and u sit in the audience thinking what am i doing here. I would also like to know where the 7.2 million dollars went into producing this show when the sets are limited the costumes are nice but not like other shows. I think that In My Life will have a limited life especially when the commercial for the show doesnt even show what the show is about all they show are picked audience mebers who liked it.

I think that when your thread title is 1/5 as long as your actual post, you are in trouble.
Quite frankly, I do not give a flying lemon that you "wasted" your money.
You obvioulsy knew all the criticism of the show.

Art and life experience - even if you pay 100 dollars - doesn't come with any guarantees. It only comes with an offering...you take from it what you will.
I'm still of the school of thought that this show is some kind of joke, like after it closes, everyone involved will be lik, "ha, ha we just wanted to see how long we could string people along and get them to come to the theater and see this.
Whether I'm right or wrong, I don't think the time that it closes is too far off.
You saw what an ego-maniac with lots of money can do.
In my opinion, it's trash.
definitely the worst piece of theater i've ever seen...
I'm still annoyed I paid for my ticket...
Addy, with all the comps floating around, I can't believe you paid for a ticket (I hope it wasn't full price).

Was there something wrong with Avenue Q, Spelling Bee, or Caroline, or Change? All three feature(d) original books and scores.

Didn't you like the big lemon at the end?

You saw a show where the people had no idea of how to write a show. The plot was thin, the characters not well developed. I call this show a rip-off of "A New Brain" and "Taboo".
You always need to watch out for shows that don't have an intermission. Intermission provides a way of escape. The only two shows I can think of that worked without an intermission are "A Chorus Line" and "Once on this Island". (Also "Reckless" but that's not a musical.)

Yes, Di, I am always this pissy...
I've learned to live with it, so should you
Oh pfffft.
If you don't like it, find a different board to post on...
I actually found that "I don't give a flying lemon..." pretty funny.
And if you're really worried about wasting your money, try doing a little research ont he show before you see it. The show got absolutely horrible reviews, and while I'm not saying that you should go strictly on what the critics say, the reviews might give you a heads up on what you're in for.
