The first time I’ve seen the show as an adult. It’s GORGEOUS. I was very impressed, it’s extremely well maintained, I was in the last row of the orchestra which I think is better honestly to get the full effect of the puppets and animals. I was near the door where the big elephant and other animals come in at the top of the show and other performers. Gavin Lee is an excellent Scar, perfect casting. I was also very impressed by Blakey Slaybaugh as Zazu and Julius Raymond Weems IV as young Simba. I didn’t realize One Short Day from Wicked is a knock off of Can’t Wait to be King. It’s a great cast, good time to see it if you wanted to revisit it.

One Short Day from Wicked sounds absolutely nothing like I Just Can’t Wait to be King. What are you smoking?

Why all the hatred for The Lion King? Sure, it's become a big tourist show. But, I thought it was generally more highly regarded for Taymor's artisic design/image.
I'm not going to lie. Since I last saw the show nearly 23 years ago, and I was only a teenager then, I got a ticket to revisit it next week. After seeing the original movie on tv a few weeks ago, I too think that I might get more out of it as an adult. (I certainly did just that, when watching the movie.)

So tedious a reply. Lots of folks have been moved by it and it has employed a lot of people for a long time. So it's nor for you. But it clearly has made an impact and this person loved it. Your comment reeks of obnoxiously snooty arrogance.

because people are ridiculous.
i havent seen the Lion King since 1997 and have no desire to revisit it, but its OBJECTIVELY a brilliant and innovative work, and if its still selling out and moving theatergoers 30 yrs later--to gripe about it is to just announce your irrelevance.

Well since you did t ask, the opening ten minutes is one of the most brilliantly staged pieces of theatre ever.
Than it comes to a grinding stop, it starts, it stops.
remove the opening and it’s a awful show.
Funny that you think I can’t have an opinion.
