The musical might be a "guilty pleasure" for some, but I don't think the score has anything to be guilty about. It's a first-class triumph. I've seen it a number of times - on Broadway, the tour and a non-equity tour. I was never disappointed even once. I'll vote for a TV version :0 . . . .

Maybe an animated film using stars for the voices, but allowing it to actually look like the original Seuss drawings.
While it may work on stage, movie audiences won't accept a Horton that's just a chubby guy in a grey suit. They want an elephant.
And let's face it - the Grinch and Cat in the Hat movies were just creepy to look at.

Then I sat up close at a student production and I had fun and it was entertaining and I enjoyed the music. I want the CD now...I think I'm gonna check out the Virgin Megastore today now that I think of it.

Posted: 10/2/05 at 12:53pmI saw it on broadway and sort of enjoyed it. then I saw it on tour with Kathy Rigby and it was ten times better. American theatre magazine has a really interesting story and interview with Lynn Ahrens this month about the evolution of theatre.

I'm glad Seussical was off broadway quickly. Otherwise, my theater group couldn't have done that musical. Which was the funnest show I have done.

I'm intern directing Seussical for a kids theater... we're having a great time. i know they would Love to see a movie verison of it... LOL. Our version has 70 kids in it! GREAT FUN!! Interested nobody added Jim Carey to thier cast list... he did really great with the Grinch.
