In fact, I would love, love, love to see her be the Matinee Dolly for the revival coming up.

That's a great idea actually and she would be perfect for the role!

I feel really sorry for her replacing people. She is a star
Sadly, and as an ardent fan of Miss Prince, leading lady she ain't. She shines in second banana roles. Her stage presence can't seem to charm an audience for an entire performance.
When she made her impact in the 1992 Broadway revival of GUYS & DOLLS, everyone was babbling on about what roles she was born to play. Leading the list was Ella in BELLS ARE RINGING. For years that was on everyone's Wish List. Jump to 2001, almost a decade later and it's announced the very first Broadway revival of BELLS ARE RINGING was happened AND starring Faith Prince! Just with this on paper, the Tony Award was a sure thing. Then the show began previews which were heavily attended by a roster of celebrities. Then word of mouth got out: she ain't good and over plays too much. The show opens, reviews not good. Bad word of mouth on her disappointing performance spreads like wildfire. Revival shutters in 3 months.
Ms. Prince returns to supporting roles and learns where her limitations are and continues to enjoy her career.

Faith Prince was amazing in BELLS ARE RINGING .
I put that performance at one of the most memorable I have ever seen.
She is wonderful at physical comedy and certainly didn't go over the top she was able to break your heart with the party's over and her eleven o'clock number I'm Going Back"
I know I'm in the vast minoroty, but I loved her in First Wives Club and the show itself. The chemistry that Faith, Carmen Cusack, and Christine Sherrill had was amazing. They all gave stellar performances.

100% agreed let's hope she replaces Bette after her contract is over. She needs to be Dolly!!!
I think she's great but I've never been more embarrassed for an actor on stage than I was for her in Disaster.
Adored her in Jerome Robbins' Broadway, Falsettoland, Guys and Dolls, and A Catered Affair. I thought she had what it took for Little Me and Bells Are Ringing, but was done in by the incredibly unfunny direction of Rob Marshall and Tina Landau (I've never been able to figure out what Landau does well...). I haven't seen her in any of her replacement gigs.
I wish Prince was offered more dramatic roles. Some of her best work -- CATERED AFFAIR, THE DEAD, A MAN OF NO IMPORTANCE -- has been in more serious fare. As a comedienne, I often feel like she's pushing too hard.
I thoroughly enjoyed her in Jerome Robbins' Broadway where she was filling in as Delores Delores the day I saw the show. She was a hoot. I liked her the first time I saw her in Guys and Dolls with the exception of the performance (2nd time) where she seemed to be on auto pilot. She was miscast as Anna in The King and I.
I think that to say Faith Prince is great being the second banana is a little harsh. Anytime I have seen her she totally gives herself into whatever part she plays. Don't forget she is a Tony winning Lead Actress. I think, sometime though, she makes somewhat less than perfect shows a lot stronger with her talent and dedication. (Believe me, she totally saved "The Little Mermaid". I do agree she would be perfect for Dolly Levi; I would want to see both she and Bette.
Love Faith Prince. One day I hope to see her perform on the Sacramento Music Circus stage again. Does anyone know what she is currently working on?
