Can't blame them. They were probably afraid that if they nominated her, she's attempt to sing it at the Awards show.

Well, the soundtrack got nominated for Best Soundtrack.
In the Visual Media field, FROZEN was nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack. Christophe Beck was nominated for Best Score Soundtrack. And yes, "Let It Go" was nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
Personally, I'd vote for "Everything Is Awesome!!!"
Also, there's stiff competition in each field. I wouldn't be surprised if FROZEN didn't win any of those awards. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's Soundtrack made a huge impact as an album. GRAVITY, GONE GIRL and GRAND BUDAPEST all will have support in Best Score, much more than Beck I imagine.

Let It Go had a reasonable chance at getting nominated in the General categories. The Frozen soundtrack is the biggest selling album of the year (and before Taylor Swift's album came out, it was by far the biggest seller, selling around 4 times as many copies as any other album in 2014), and Let It Go is around the 10th-biggest-selling single. Popularity is not supposed to matter, but it often does, with songs like "Call Me Maybe" getting nominated in the top fields. Let It Go being in there wouldn't have been a shock.
Guardians of the Galaxy's soundtrack has no original songs, which is going to hurt its chances. I think Frozen has Best Soundtrack sewn up.
If it is shut out, I have 3 words
Let It Go
Popularity is not supposed to matter
For the top categories in the Grammys, it matters 99% of the time.
I agree, Matt.
Also, I totally agree with jnb, "Everything is awesome" should take it!

lolololol don't be blind. The Grammy Awards (and every single other award show out there) is HIGHLY political and based off of popularity. Why do you think All About That Bass is up for Song of the Year AND Record of the Year?????????
I'm not being cocky but I EASILY predicted this year's nominees for the top categories. You can too for every award show - just look at the songs that started big discussions this year in music and compare them against the nominees for the top categories. These award shows are less about music than they are about stars. It's all one big televised celebrity close up festival than it is recognizing musicians.

Didn't hurt MIDNIGHT IN PARIS, THE BEATLES' LOVE, RAY, GARDEN STATE or ALMOST FAMOUS, all previous winners of this category.
I'm perturbed that she didn't get recognized for Pop Solo or Record of the Year.
But at least it got soundtrack song and the soundtrack got its two noms.
Oh well. I'll stop being perturbed in a day or two.
The fact that "All About That Bass" got nominated for the evening's two biggest song awards baffles me...

It's all a political/popularity game. That's why I never really pay much attention to these award shows (aside from watching performance highlights).

Well, a number of snubs and surprises, I guess. Unlike any of the other noms/non-noms, LIG is truly one for the ages, though.
I wonder how much Menzel and the rest of the performing cast get (which is it, residuals or royalties?) in relation to Frozen CD and DVD sales...

THAT GIF. Exactly. Homegirl probably isn't losing sleep over this as she sits atop her Let It Go ice palace

Idina is home free. Disney is going to milk as much as they can out of Frozen and she's gonna reap the benefits. Well deserved!
