Ah I can't wait to hear how his last show was!!

Me too! I have been thinking of Lin's last show all day today. I really wish I lived in NYC. I was lucky enough to see the show twice with him in it and it was fantastic. Hopefully not too much longer before we get some posts about his last show!

Testing... I'm glad it wasn't just me that felt something was missing with Rick. (Saw it yesterday matinee)

I still love the show though!!

There was a sign posted at the entrance that said something like "due to popular demand, a performance was being added Monday at 8pm" - does anyone know what that's all about? Was tonight not really his last performance?

Hee- I was just talking about that sign with someone. Monday's actually the start of the new week, and there's a show tomorrow night because there's no show Wed night this week. Shows sometimes have a schedule change up on holiday weekends, but I don't think I've ever seen a "due to popular demand sign" about any of them- they're stil playing the normal eight performances next week.

Tonight was great- I loved all of the Lin love. No idea what it looked like in the orch, but it was standing ovation entrance applause at the start of the show in the mezz. And then I loved how his first line, how "Lights up on Washington Heights," proceeded to get its own burst of applause. And I love crowds filled with fans, where it feels like everyone's getting their own spillover, if you will, of applause and recognition (off the top of my head- Andrea Burns, and Eliseo's Piragua Guy, were getting some really loud recognition at numerous points during the night.)

Wasn't too disappointed by the lack of speech, as it seemed to fit in with Karen's send off (the band played "America," as the rest of the cast stepped back, so she got her own bow, but no speech there either.)

Lotto this weekend was insane- I lost Sat eve and Sun matinee today, crowds were larger than I've ever seen- even larger than the first post-Tonys lotto crowd. But, on the plus side, after I lost Heights lotto I went on to win Wicked matinee lotto. :)

Just got back. Stage door was packed, and the cast was so gracious. I'll have my stage door footage up in a bit.

Tonight's show was amazing. I was glad I brought enough tissues as I cried so much! Haha.

Wish I could have been there! You'll be missed, Lin! (Although Javier is great).

I actually didn't care for Gomez and loved Negron...but to each his own!

It was painful to listen to Gomez towards the end of his run, his voice had become so bad, but still enjoyed his Kevin.

Just thought Negron was missing something--

But you are right, to each, their own- and agree--- show is still in great shape !!!

Btw, missed Rickey Tripp. I see his name in the Playbill, but is he still with the show?

The show tonight was truly splendid. I hadn't revisited In The Heights since it won the Tony, but everyone was just on fire. I know it was his last show, but to receive a standing ovation just when you enter - that was something I've never experienced. When Lin/Usnavi talks about "I'm gonna miss this place to tell you the truth", he seemed to get a slight crack in his voice and for the rest of "Home" I was pretty emotional. It's one thing to have an actor leave a show when they originated a role, a usually emotional journey. But for him to have created this after working so hard, then winning the Tony for writing and the musical itself...it's just so much to say goodbye to. At the stage door, the girl next to me asked if Lin had gotten her present. After she specified which one, he said he hadn't opened it yet, as he needed stuff to keep him busy tomorrow when he's bawling. He will be surely missed from the Broadway scene until his (hopefully soon) return.

Oh and despite the obvious illegalities a friend of a friend whose name just happens to be mormonophobic...er...took pictures at curtain since it WAS his last appearance. Yeah, felony, yeah I'm a bad person. But I'll post them or link to them when I get home from my trip or get to a Kinko's and make a CD (which I might do uber-soon since I'm dying for the photos of speed-the-plow SD today where I got pics with Macy, Esparza, Moss, AND a surprising Fred Armisen).

^ haha i watch Alex during that song too, but Negron adds some feeling to the song you realize the song is actually really beautiful. It's amazing what good singing does to a song...
