ISO Erik Allen (circa. 1997-1998)

Hey guys, this is a shot-in-the-dark question, but..... Back in 1997 I met my VERY FIRST-EVER on-line friend when I was in college, between 1997-1998 on this very message board by the name of Erik Allen. What I can recall of him was that his name was Erik Allen, perhaps with a "C" as his middle name. He was living/ working in Chicago at the time, whereas I was in Iowa (I still am, in fact).

He seemed to know more about Iowan Gay culture than *I* did because he mentioned a Gay bar by the name of "The Garden," which I had never heard of at that time and mistakenly thought he meant The Olive Garden restaurant! He was very sweet and we flirted as we chatted on-line for months and years, and we even exchanged face pix ( had to use the computer labs scanner at school to do so). In fact, the Broadway cast recording of "Side Show" had just come out, so as we chatted we would text romantic lyrics back and forth as if we were singing to each other on Yahoo Messenger (everyone used Yahoo IM back then!).

I had enquired about his possible whereabouts some years ago since he was a very prolific poster/ commentator, and someone mentioned that they had thought he was now living in Florida somewhere. Anyway, I've always wondered how he was doing, and how the Fates had been to him since last we spoke. I'm not even sure if he'd still remember me, but he left an impact on me. ...in the non-stalkery sort of way, LOL! I thought of him as a very good friend and always wondered what he was doing with his life when the thought crossed my mind.
