And Eliseo!Kevin sounds exciting! Not...that I could ever get a chance to see him (Canadian, woot.) but what is this about Carlos Gomez's voice not holding up lately? I read that in quite a few posts...That's kinda sad.. :[

Saw Eliseo/Kevin last night as well. Absolutely incredible. The whole show was just on fire. Amazing.

Carlos Gomez's voice has reportedly been blowing out for some time now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eliseo take his place - he's amazing in the role and Carlos was always a weak spot for me.

Carlos got the boot earlier this week! A replacement has been hired for the role of Kevin and he is currently in rehearsal!

Carlos had a good voice for about the first week of previews, that's it. Every time I have been there he has been off. I am dying to see Eliseo in the role.

I knew Eliseo from back in the "dinner theater" days and I have to say I am so incredibly proud of him... He has been such an amazing talent.

I don't believe what Deycallmemimi2 said until there is proof backing it up. Anyone on here can say that they know for a fact or that they are an insider etc. I believe that Carlos is one of the members of the cast with a decent attendance record. So, it wouldn't surprise me if he was taking some time off.

Define decent. He was out for a week or so in late August too.

Anyways. Great for Eliseo. He is all kinds of brilliant.

I've seen the show 3 times (first time during previews) and unfortunately, Carlos had struggled vocally in each of the performances I attended.

Just because someone has a good attendance record and is nice at the stage door isn't enough of a reason to keep them in a show where they are not going to be able to meet the demands of the role! Carlos progressively got worse and worse and something needed to be done to keep ITH in its best shape possible!

taylorPHENOMENON2, yes but that was during his scheduled vacation. That is different. Your allowed to take a couple of weeks off every six months. August was six months since In The Heights started on broadway.

Deycallmemimi2, I have seen the show several times at different parts of the run and everytime I saw Carlos as Kevin and he was just fine. I saw no change in his performance and I saw nothing that he was doing that would cause him to be fired.

I really want to see Elisieo as Kevin but I'm stuck 5 hours away and with the economy I don't think thats very likely.

I LOVE Eliseo.
I saw him as Kevin in October and he knocked it out of the park. His 'Inutil' made me cry too. He's a real talent and watching him on stage in any role is an immense joy!
(OH MY... I'm totally an Eliseo fangirl.)
I wasn't a fan of the Pirauga Guy understudy, however... which is the only downside of Eliseo as Kevin.
