Ibdb question

I noticed some actors have starring or performer before their credits. Sometimes people would be listed as performer ever though they are in a starting role. For instance Jill Paice's ibdb says she was a performer in Matilda while the current Miss honey, Jennifer Blood's ibdb says she's starring in Matilda.

is there a difference?

I believe it has to do with billing. Above the title gets "Starring," below the title principals get "Also Starring," and ensemble get "Performer." But of course some shows shunt everyone below the title, or else list everyone in the cast regardless of status alphabetically; hence IBDB shows Patrick Stewart "Starring" as Macbeth, but Ethan Hawke is only a "Performer" as Macbeth. This also explains cast listings on the show page: performers are divided into those three groups then listed alphabetically within them, paying no heed to individual billing order or to "with" or "and" credits.
