I love how she was the one who asked for the "not appropriate for under age 13" notification at the Public.
I can't wait to see this show.

Posted: 10/23/05 at 11:36pmEw, I can't believe they compared her to Britney Spears. There's a difference between Britney relying solely on young girls for her fanbase for years, then deciding she outgrew them, and Idina happening to take on one role mid-career (after playing lesbians, whores, etc.) that happens to appeal to teenyboppers.

I'm not sure he was really comparing her to Brintey Spears. It seemed like he was referring to her saying "I’m not the most innocent person."

Posted: 10/24/05 at 3:57pmBSoBW2 - A lot of people in the industry and critics don't consider an EP a CD. It has less songs on it than a full CD. So that's why they are probably referring to this upcoming one as her second CD.

Idina has said at her concerts while introducing "Minuet" that it's from her "first and really only CD." Meaning she's had one full-length CD. I wouldn't be surprised if Here was released with the intentions of getting more recent work out there partially for the purpose of having something newer to show in hopes of laning a major deal. Which she did (score!).
I absolutely love this article. I love what she has to say about how she's perceived, how Wicked's perceived, why she wanted to take on See..., her solo act. Great article, and I love what Mr. LaChuisa has to say.

I think this is my new favourite quote:
"Then came Wicked, which made her a household name (at least if your household made regular visits to TKTS)."
Followed very closely by:
“People forget where Rent came from. I sing a duet to my gay lover, who’s black! I mean, come on!”

As a previously well-known Idina-hater,
I am proud to admit that I am falling more and more in love with this woman each day since my first viewing of SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE. Her performances in that are stunning, beautifully crafted ones not to be missed. And it is so nice to see such a diverse actress on our stages again!

Wow, this interview brings back my affection for Idina which admittedly had been waning. I love that it's candid and it just feels so honest that you can't help not loving her.
My favorite quote:
"I feel like people don't give me enough credit for my training."
I wonder where she got that idea?

I have a feeling quite a few people who were previous Idina haters will come out of SWIWS loving her. And honestly, I think she got at that a little in the article. She's always BEEN talented. She did FANTASTIC work in Wicked and beforehand. Sometimes people are so quick to dismiss because she was in a big-budget show, uptown show and they don't see it until she did something by LaChuisa...or if she were to do something Sondheim.
Anyway, regardless of how people get there, I'm glad to see more people gaining respect of her and her talent, and I hope that continues. She deserves it.

OMG...I know what I have to do for White T-Shirt Day for Spirit Week. I need to make myself one of those I <3 Idina['s Arms] Shirts and a red Adidas tracksuit (which I already own, pre-Idina gracing the stage in it).
On a lighter note, my admiration for her as an actress and a performer is indescribable. This article is LOFE.

I'm so happy this article is out there. She really was fantastic in SWIWS (I saw her yesterday afternoon) and while you could see a :hint: of Elphaba in her performance (as Kesa in the Japanese portion when she is doing the hand movements......"when people see me they will scream") I am so glad that she was able to break away and show her real musical and acting chops. Plus I think that I have never seen a more amazing thing than Mary Testa and Idina Menzel on the same stage. WOW.
