And, as for a tour of If/Then, "I'm not sure," she said. "We'll have to see. I want the best for If/Then. It's my baby. I'll always want to be a part of it, so if I can work it out, I will try."

So, after World Tour.?. .. Maybe Big Cities.. ?

IF/THEN doesn't seem like a tour-type show. I rather doubt it's in the cards at all, and if it's not Menzel, no other actress can pull it off on a tour.
Doubt it would succeed on tour.

I can see it now, IF/THEN entering Phoenix or Portland.......
(Oh yeah, and can you fix the thread title? Heh)

It would succeed on tour with Idina Menzel.
Doesn't Idina need a break? She's been doing so much since Frozen and If/Then....she is fantastic in If/Then. One of my favorite performances....

I think it's probable IF/THEN will close with Menzel's contract end, which is like 3/30. Her first concert is in June or something. There's definitely a break somewhere in there.
The concert tour then is probably her "working break," and I hope it'll be fun for her kid since he's going to be traveling with her (wow), but that does make me wonder... Well, I don't know what a show tour schedule looks like, but if a touring production cuts into the school year, would she leave him at school in a stable setting or run around with a tutor? Given how much she's talks about her kid in interviews, I'm not sure she'd leave him in NYC while she theoretically tours, and running around for more than a year doesn't seem like a great thing for a kid either.

I'm sure they appreciate the input. Maybe she should get back together with Taye. That'd probably be better for the kid too, right? Two parents instead of just one? I mean, unless there's a lot of tension between them. That could be tough for a kid. Maybe we can all sit down and assess.
Okay, but then, if (she might) may be the wrong supposition, when a solid then (she will) might work out, only if possible, but then maybe (she could); but if never, well then probably no big loss. If I'm following this, then I'm likely worried it's all iffy. Will she stage door in Sheboygan?

Now that you put it that way, I see what you mean.
This show will not tour. It's reviews were dismal and it won no awards. It has nothing to promote without Idina. Idina is HOT HOT HOT right now. I can't see her schlepping all over the country with this show. No way in hell. She's going to have amazing offers that don't involve an exhausting tour.
N2N won awards and Ripley touring with it made it marketable and then it only played a few dates. It wasnt a huge tour.

Even if it were to tour (which, I agree with Bettyboy is highly improbable) there's no way Menzel would be available until after her concert tour ends (which I think is in October sometime). Assuming If/Then runs until March when her contract ends, that gives her about two months to rehearse and put together this world tour. I also assume she'll want a small break before heading (first) to Asia and ultimately stateside.

Will she bring the kid or not?
I'm setting up 900 numbers so everybody can vote Yes or No.
I want her to do another Broadway Show!
"I want her to do another Broadway Show!"
Me too! I heard from someone that she was a part of a reading for "Loman Family Picnic" a few months ago. The prospect of her performing in a play thrills me!
I don't know if there's another thread just about the show touring ? I didn't see one.
The LA Times announced this morning that If/Then is hitting the Pantages in December:
"The season will kick off Oct. 13 with the new U.S. national tour of "Annie," which will run through Nov. 1.
That will be followed Dec. 8 through Jan. 3 with "If/Then." The show follows the adventures of a thirtysomething woman who moves to New York. Idina Menzel stars in the Broadway production of the musical, written by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt, the team behind the Pulitzer Prize-winning "Next to Normal." (A spokesman said an announcement on casting for the touring production is months away.)"

What're the odds that Idina will reprise the role I wonder.

Maybe it'll do fine without her there in Cali...
But is that the extent of the "tour"? One place in Cali for almost a month? I haven't been following.

^ Idina is going to launch the tour and then apparently Jackie will be taking over for the rest of the first leg.
I think this tour could succeed if Idina opened it, generating overall buzz about it, and then once everyone realizes how great Jackie is the in the role, people will continue to see it.

I wonder how well they'd do with Jenn in the role.

Coming from a huge IF/THEN fan...besides a stop with Idina...this isn't a smart idea. I wish the show appealed to a wider audiences. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Jackie is great in the role...as is Jenn (who may be better...). Regardless, this won't sell without Idina and I don't see her doing more than one stop.

Someone mentioned that people have subscriptions for theaters to watch various touring shows? I don't know how that works, but it may work in favor of IF/THEN. I think many people never gave it a chance at all on Broadway, never mind any mixed/negative reviews after the fact. But if it's part of a subscription plan anyway, who knows?
