Idol Reject Federov to Join FANTASTICKS Cast May 1- Page 2

the real question one should ask in a situation like this is: why would the producers of THE FATASTICKS feel it necessary to boost box office sales by casting an American Idol contestant. Would he have been cast if he hadn't been on that show? Probably not. The way it had been working with that show was that the actor playing the Mute would cover the actor playing Matt and then when the Matt departed the show, the Mute would be promoted. That's just the way it was working with this show.

Now, it is different with Jennifer Hudson - she proved she had staying power... had she auditioned for DREAMGIRLS as an unknown, she may very well have been cast... her voice is incredible.

Anthony Federov is hardly going to pack the house. Maybe he was cast because he was the best person that auditioned?

As for The Mute-to-Matt "promotion", it was done once, not time after time. Again, maybe Federov made more of an impression on the casting people than Nick Spangler did?

I saw the Fantasticks last week- and I could not take my eyes off of Nick. His reactions throughout the entire show were hysterical and both me and my friend found ourselves constantly drawn to him. I am glad Nick wasn't "promoted" to Matt because IMO he was great as the mute. :)

Also, Anthony's name isn't that well known, so I don't think he will draw in the huge American Idol crowd, like Constantine did. And, I think he will be good as Matt!

How could he have been singing at nightclubs. Wasn't he like 12 when he appeared on Idol 2 years ago?

Ugh, to be honest, I never really liked him. Ever wondered why Idol rejected him? I was so mad that season, he should've gotten kicked and Anwar Robinson should of stayed. Maybe he improved over the years..

Anthony is now 21. He turned 20 one week before he was kicked off Idol.

I remember that it seemed like every week he told an even sadder version of his life story than he had told the week before.

What is that line from ALL ABOUT EVE?

"What a story! Everything but the bloodhounds snappin' at his rear end!"

I do, however, remember him having a warm rich voice. If he can act and come across guileless but charming, he could make it work.

I dislike the word "reject" cant they use nicer words like "Former Idol Contestant", makes them sound like HAHA you are a LOSER! Sounds better to me than "reject". The press uses "reject" a lot as well in their columns, they even called Jennifer Hudson a "reject", it sounds wrong..sorry...

His story was that when he was a baby he had a growth on his vocal cords which had to be removed and he went into a coma during the operation and the doctors did not even think he would be able to talk, never mind sing. That's where his tracheotomy scar came from. I only remember him telling this story once - during the auditions, although the producers kept dwelling on it.

Yeah. I worked with him way before American Idol, when he was only 16. We worked at Papa John's Pizza together haha.

It's negative spin like this that gives this forum such a nasty reputation. The thing is that it only a few people who have to be so high-drama about everything that it gives all of is a bad name.
