I definitely think Sara Gettelfinger would be too young for the role. But I just don't see her as Georgia either. I don't find her a very exciting performer. Granted, I missed her big splash in NINE where people were raving about her performance. Her part in DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS was not much to speak of and I didn't love her in GREY GARDENS.
Perhaps I'm too much of a Karen Ziemba fan - I want someone really likeable in the role, too. I couldn't see me rooting for Sara as Georgia.
Yeah, Gettelfinger did nothing for me in DRS either. That's the only role I've seen her in.
And husk, I wasn't even dignifying the D'Amboise idea with a response.
Krakowski is a lovely idea, however, probably also too young. But, I don't think that role will end up being replaced unless the show runs for a very long while.

Here's another idea for "totally different type" casting for Frank Cioffi: Richard Kind.
For Frank Cioffi- Patrick Wilson or NPH
For Carmen Bernstein- Mary Testa or Joanne Worley
For Georgia Hendricks- Joanna Gleason or Cady Huffman
Perhaps Matthew Broderick for Frank Cioffi?
Sarah Gettlefinger looks and reads older at times. I think she'd be neat in the role. I've liked what I've seen/heard from her.

I second the Kelsey Grammar mention - bring in the older brother!

Here are my ideas for replacements:
Carmen - Marcia Lewis, Roz Ryan, Anne L. Nathan
Georgia - Jane Krakowski, Charlotte D'amboise, Denise Van Outen, Ruthie Henshall
Frank - Kelsey Grammer, Matthew Broderick, Craig Bierko (surprising no one ever mentioned him yet), Eric McCormack, Tim Curry, Alan Ruck
Niki - Meredith Patterson
I hope he stays, too, Rathnait2! I've always wanted to see David in the role!
Ruthie Henshall as Georgia would be incredibly exciting to watch.

I agree with you on Ruthie Henshall there, ray! She'd be amazing. I loved her in the concert edition of Les Miserables, and her Death scene made me cry.

I second the agreement, iluvcioffi.
I think she'd be perfect as Georgia, even on Broadway.
I love your avatar, ray-andallthatjazz86! I have watched Cabaret ever since New Year's in 2001...I mean before that.
How could you go that long without watching CABARET? I have to watch at least every other month...
Speaking of which, Liza would have made a great Georgia back in the days (and a great Carmen too), and Joel Grey would have been adorable as the Lt.
I agree, ray-andallthatjazz86. I love Liza's singing voice. I wanna get her CD with the song called Try to Remember from The Fantastiks.
Well, Liza could play Carmen now.
I'd like to see her return to Broadway and this might be a great role for her.
