Posted: 12/31/03 at 11:26pmThe good news is there's no *need* to cast swings for the movie! Although, I suppose that is bad news for the members of O-Town if many of your other casting ideas were to go through.

sorry--a movie or play is never "casted"
always "cast"--past, present, or future.

ROTFLMAO
Link needs to be an unknown.
Harvey is a given.
Susan Saradon as Velma and Bette Midler as Prudy would be a RIOT
Carson as Corny goes into the "hokie" territory
Britney as Amber would work - after all, she DID understudy Laura Bell... albeit when they were 10, but still.
Wayna Brady and Raven are both too old for those roles.....

Velma: Catherine Zeta Jones
Wilbur: Richard Gere----That would sell, and he could actually play the role.

Posted: 1/1/04 at 1:00amI'm pretty sure one would say that Cynthia Plaster Caster has casted people. Like Jimi Hendrix and Jello Biafra.

ThaT'S a great BROADWAY cast, but that's never gonna happen, because all of them are pretty much unknowns with the exception of Fierstein.
Stars need to be cast in the movie to make people go see it. The movie will probably be a hit anyway--
A) Because there are stars cast in it
B) Because it will probably be amazing and people will see it again and spread the word
C) BEcause the critics will fall in love with it, considering the show was such a hit.
By the way, I also like the Ryan Seacrest idea. I think he would be great acting wise in that role. Could he sing it?

I think Edna should be John Goodman or Danny Devito
Wilbur could be Tommy Lee Jones (a different kind of a role for him) or Jerry Orbach (spell?)
Amber could be Tara Reid ... Link could be (barf Ashton Kutcher) or even darling Shane West... and I could see Penny being played by Mandy Moore.

Posted: 1/1/04 at 12:47pmExcept Mandy Moore can't sing at all. Talk about an awesome and amazing publicity machine. That girl has so little talent, but I digress.

Mandy Moore could never play that role. She would never be able to sing it. I think if Kelly Clarkson strengthened her acting skills she could play Penny, because she could sing it- that's for sure.
Ashton Kutcher is completely wrong for Link. They could cast a boy band member as Link, only because they'd be able to sing it and the acting really isn't difficult AT ALL. It would be another one of their concerts with lines in between. The songs are all about love and "Baby, be with me", etc, etc, etc.
