I say Sondheim
Maybe Sondheim or Chita Rivera.
You could have any of the following who are most deserving:
Chita
Gwen Verdon
Bob Fosse
Michael Bennett
Harol Prince

Here's an idea.
How about Mark Hellinger?
I'm tired of theatres being stripped of their names and re-dedicated to other people.
It seems to be the way things are going .

I think Fosse definitely deserves SOME theatre named after him. Same for Harold Prince (though maybe not right now).
Charles Nelson Reilly

If you had any sense, Roxy, you'd know I was only referring to theatres whose names were dedicated to people already.
But, you don't. Instead you tried to make a catty remark and just made yourself look foolish.
Maybe cover two director-choreographers in one swoop--the Fosse-Bennett Theater?

But yeah, that church is not gonna give it up.
While Im not a huge fan of naming theaters after critics I agree with FOA in saying that it should reopen as the Hellinger.
how about The Moss Hart or The Hammerstein?
I believe Moss deserves a theatre.
Doesn't anyone find it creepy that we're asking, "Gee, if someone decides to kick the Church out of a building they're using to gather people and strengthen the word amongst themselves and others, a place they use to better their lives... what should we call it?"
Come on. Let at least a group of people have their happiness.
Tennessee Williams should get a theatre named after him...
Michael Bennett, Bob Fosse, and Harold Prince are all good ideas as well. I'll add Leonard Bernstein to the mix.
I'd opt to name it for Alan Jay Lerner, who had My Fair Lady, On a Clear Day, Coco and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in that theatre.

Since there are so many people deserving of namesakes for their contribution to the arts, why not forego the notion altogether? The remaining ones should just stay the way they are instead of a game of who should get one before who.
I'll throw the Ethel Merman Theatre into the mix.
How about the Fosse-Verdon Theatre? from RC in Austin, Texas
