I HATED IT, It was like watching Paint Dry. I wanted to leave at intermission but figured it could not get any worse. Man, was I wrong.

When brdway411 answered that TDF question in an If/Then thread without then trashing the show, I was nervous that some cosmic shift in the universe had occurred. Thankfully, order has been restored.

Different Stroke for Different Folks.
I loved it. And found the addition of the glasses for Liz made things much easier to follow. When the story changed directions between Liz and Beth, the glasses came on and off. I think that was a very helpful tracking device.
I wonder if you have to be a certain age to get and appreciate the underlying themes of the show. And like I have said earlier in this thread, - I like leaving a show and thinking about it. I thought about this and a few other shows I watched when I was in NY - and continue to think about them (in a good way).

No matter how many times brdway411 trashes If/Then, it does not change the fact that it's selling. Thanks for your "contribution" to this thread, which is about it being on TDF, not what you thought of it.

I might have been able to get past my issues with the book if I'd been enchanted by the score (I am, admittedly, a huge N2N fan), but I didn't particularly like any of the songs and outright disliked many of them. The show has a lot of ambition, but for me it falls far short of what it's trying to accomplish.

I saw it last and personally I actually really liked it.I didn't think it was that confusing at all. I got lost for like a minute or two once. Yeah there were some moments that could've been better but I thought it was great overall. The score is amazing and I wasn't bored at all.

If you don't like my opinion of the show, please by all means, block me. No skin off my teeth. I found the first few minutes of the show enjoyable, great cast and set. I even like the dual plot lines, both showed promise. But when it became predictable and the music started to sound the same. I lost interest. There was no feeling in the show. There was no character development. I am a huge N2N fan and was looking forward to something clever and meaningful and this had none of that. My husband and I attended the first preview and by intermission we were both ready to leave.
The only reason this show is selling well is the cast. No Idina fan (I am not, but am a fan of N2N, which this is far from) in their right mind would pass up a chance to see her live. I think people would pay to see her sing the phone book. Look what happened the 3 or 4 days she was out. If Idina was not in the show, this thing would have gone the way of Hands on a Hardbody and would already be closed. As soon as she vacates, the show is done. MOTOWN, has one of the worst books of a show I have seen (they should have kept the stuff the ghost writer did, it had to be better than what BG wrote.) still breaks the million dollar mark. There is no accounting for taste.

I was given Row N Seat 17, and it was an amazing view - no obstruction at all. I was seated next to two other singles who had gotten their tickets through TDF as well.

I was another person who loved it! Cast was terrific and it wasn't hard to follow at all. Cast recording is wonderful as well. I found that at this point in my life I definitely related to thinking about life choices.

Friends had seats in row U this week. On the aisle, not bad at all they said.
I've seen the show 3 times. Love it. I get it. And a lot of people in the audience this last time were most definitely NOT there for Idina but for the story they had heard about. It does intrigue a lot of people.

How interesting. I guess producers think the exposure will help to boost ticket sales, at least to the extent that it'll be worth it to cancel a performance.

PapeGe, that was my issue with it as well. I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. I have to say, I love the cast recording a lot more than the show, BUT I've only seen the show in D.C. If we can't get tickets to Violet on our trip later this month than we were going to try for If/Then since it's on TDF to see what has been changed since D.C. (instead of just relentlessly hearing about it).

On Saturday I won the lotto for this show for two friends from Europe. I decided to get the lotto loser ticket, which was in Row W partial view for $50 (never again!), so as not to feel stupid for winning for someone else and having to go another show alone. At intermission I moved down to Row B behind them at least but my goodness, I couldn't wait for this boring show to end!
Additionally, I took my friends to take pictures at Madison Square Park before the show; making fun of the people waiting on line at Shake Shack was more exciting.
