If you could only see one part of Coast of Utopia, which would it be?

Posted: 4/17/07 at 10:12amI only have the money and time to see one part of Coast of Utopia. Which part should I see? Is Part I a complete theater experience in itself? If I see Part II without seeing Part I, will it be understandable?

Posted: 4/17/07 at 10:22amVOYAGE is the most accessible of the plays, SHIPWRECK is the most thrilling, and SALVAGE will make no sense if you haven't seen the first two. Just my opinion, of course. Too bad you can't see all three.

I'd say Part II: Shipwreck.
It indeed has the most action and, unlike Part I, features and introduces characters that are central to the story. Part III will make no sense, as D2 said, without having seen the other 2.

Posted: 4/17/07 at 11:15amPart 2 wasn't necessarily my overall favorite (well, Act II of Part 2 was), but it is true that Shipwreck is the most stand alone of the three. If you are seeing only one of them, see Shipwreck.

Part II deals with people and their feelings for one another.
Part I is a lot (repeat, a LOT) of exposition and introduction.
Part III; make it unanimous, you really need I & II.
But--Part I is up on TDF for tomorrow night right now and has been up now and then recently although on relatively short notice. Get that and then buy Part II

Posted: 4/17/07 at 2:12pmPart Two. The only one that really kept me enthralled. And Jennifer Ehle was spectacular. I think it was because of the diversion of the family drama/love interest aspect that "Shipwreck" interested me more.
