In my humble and unasked-for opinion, the brouhaha about whether Spiderman is a go reminds me when Miss Saigon was going to open. Because of all the noise re: Jonathan Pryce playing the Engineer and Asian actors complaining to Equity or whatever they did, it kept the show in the news long before it opened. Then MacIntosh said the show wouldn't be opening at all because of this controversy. All this time, the show gets more and more name recognition. When the breathtaking moment arrived that, yes, conflicts had been resolved, the show would open anyway. At the time, they also were huffing and puffing about paying extra money (akin to "premium seats" on a lesser scale) for the seats that had the best view of the helicopter (something anyone can do by visiting a local airport). If you ask me, it's case of a sucker being born every minute. The down side is, people will fall for it. The hell with the actual quality of the show, just get people inside the theatre paying ridiculously inflated prices for a piece of junk.
Uh, you are talking about a show that had already been open in London for two years. Very different situation.
I don't really think so, blaxx.
I think she show will open
What is it that you don't think?
Ed was referring to the controversy surrounding the Broadway opening of Miss Saigon, but as opposed to Spider-Man, Miss Saigon had already opened in London two years before and had a pretty solid word of mouth. Spider-Man has nothing, except a lot of bad press.
Even if it opens, I REALLY doubt the budget will be so huge as it is rumored to be.
