Are you really saying no community theater or high school should be able to South Pacific, The King & I, etc without the original races represented. They don't even do that on broadway. I am going to see another community theater 20 miles from that one do Miss Siagon next month, bet they don't have more than 2 vietnamese in the cast. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. There's hundreds of shows white people can play, no need for them to take the couple of minority roles as well. Did they seriously need to put on MISS SAIGON?
Remember the way people went on and on about how an all-black cast wouldn't work for CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF? Or how it's distracting for Audra McDonald to play John Cullum's daughter? Or how Daphne Rubin-Vega was too "ethnic" for Fantine? Well, I'm doing exactly the same thing here.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
