This problem generally goes away when states revise their penal codes, but if the laws are old, some forced sex is rape and some forced sex is sodomy.
I guess I find it bizarre. I've always assumed forced sodomy was considered rape. I guess I need to watch more Law & Order: SVU.

Posted: 6/23/09 at 6:01pmin NYS, legally "rape" is a term used for non-consensual penile/vaginal contact, and sodomy is still a legal term used to define other non-consensual sexual contact. I used to work in a rape crisis center and we tried to have the terminology changed for years because men couldn't legally say they were raped, they were sodomized. IT got very confusing and it made many male survivors feel different or marginalized. I think it still does.

I think in the future it will be like Carrie. Theaters will produce it just to see if it was as bad as people say and if there is anything to salvage. The reasoning will be: "This guy wrote that great hit You Light Up My Life".
Take it from me producers, this show sucked big time!
