I am planning my upcoming trip to New York and was having finding really good seats for ITH...until I checked the Wednesday matinee and was able to find 4th row center. Does anybody know if there is something wrong with Wednesday matinees (e.g. it's all understudies or something) that I should know before I lay down $120.00 a ticket?

It's not on Broadwayunderstudies.com
just go for it.
You might have just lucked into great timing: a cancellation, the release of "house seats" etc.
Don't diss a good thing! Enjoy.
All the understudies are great, one are planned but you could get someone on. It's a weekday matinee, not always a big crowd
Cool. I just bought them. I don't know a lot about the cast anyway (just that I hear that they are great) so I'm sure it won't matter if there are understudies. I was just curious if there was something I should know.
i thought ITH wasn't doing Wed. matinees, hence the addition of Sunday evenings.
They are very ambitious...nine shows a week...they are doing two shows on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday.
Performance Schedule:
Tuesday and Sunday @7pm
Wednesday @2pm or 8pm
Thursday - Saturday @8pm
Saturday and Sunday @2pm
They are not (according to Ticketmaster) doing 9 shows a week on a regular basis.
The next few weeks there are still Wed matinees but no evening show, once the play two on Sunday there is no longer a Weds mat.
It does look like thanksgiving week they have 9 scheduled...wouldn't suprise me if xmas week was the same. (I know there are ways to easily get around the 8 show a week Equity rules)
I was at the Wednesday night show last week. It was veryyy good. I loved Karen Olivo, I really hope she is able to play Anita before she gets older. Carlos Gomez was sick, but still went on. You could tell he did not want to sing but I give him much credit for managing to get through Inutil. Christopher Jackson was the standout performer for me. I loved everything about his performance. Olga Merediz was also a favorite. I met Jackson, Miranda, Merediz and a few ensemble members after the show. I am glad this show still is fresh.
Carlos Gomez has sounded terrible singing Inutil every time I have seen it, and every time any one I know has seen it.
Chances are, he was not sick.
Carlos Gomez not sounding good is not new news and if he is out it is not a loss, it's a gain. I hear Eliseo is fantastic, can't wait to see him.
Enjoy the show JarNerdAV! It's fantastic, and way to score the great seats!

Yeah you can't go wrong with ITH's understudies, they're all fantastic. In fact I've seen full cast and then a performance with numerous understudies and I actually preferred Joshua Henry over Chris Jackson as Benny, but that's just my opinion.
When I went two Saturdays ago, there was an insert in the playbill listing the cast for that performance. I couldn't see what the changes were because all of the principle performers were going on - and then the show started, and Eliseo was playing Kevin and he was phenomenal! It was my second time seeing the show, and even though I missed him as the piragua guy - I really didn't miss Carlos Gomez in the role.
I just checked the cast list and the only two performers I am familiar with them are Priscilla Lopez and Robin de Jesus---so, other than them, I probably wouldn't even know if an understudy was in unless I checked the program. For nostalgic reasons, I'd love to see Priscilla--and I think Robin de Jesus is very talented. Here's hoping they do matinees.
well when I saw it two weeks ago, it wasn't a Wed matinee but it was a Saturday one and everyone was in except for Carlos Gomez like I said, whose role is minimal - and EVERYONE came out for stage door. I missed Lin Manuel when he came out, and my mom was dying for a picture with him and after waiting for Robin to come out, who comes out much later than the rest of the cast - I see Lin walking back with dinner in hand and he posed for the picture with mom - not only a great show, but a very sweet and friendly cast at stage door, if you're thinking of doing that.

I saw the show a few weeks ago as well. I wasn't very familiar with the show and running a little late, so no time to check out the playbill until intermission. I honestly had no clue Eliseo was the understudy for Kevin until I saw the slip and thought he was fabulous. So I have to concur with others that it's a treat to see him in the role.
