I searched to no avail, so I don't think there's already a thread.
What's the buzz on "Ink"?
Thanks!

Heard nothing but excellent things when they performed it in London.

Posted: 3/11/19 at 8:10amI loved it. Best thing I saw in 2017. The direction, set design, and acting all came together for a riviting and powerful evening of theatre. Totally different, but better than The Ferryman imo. Johnny Lee Miller has the lions share of stage time and while I have never seen him on stage, I imagine he’ll be fighting hard to get into that lead actor Tony race. And Bertie Carvel is so so good, I see nobody standing in his way of finally taking home his Tony in the featured category. I was surprised how much I loved it in London and I suspect it might just be the sleeper hit here in an already crowded broadway play season.

What is with MTC? Now that I live in California, I have to plan my theatregoing more carefully, and it ticks me off that INK is only being produced for two months, tickets only on sale through early June. I'll be back in NY for the major Stonewall 50 celebration at the end of June; if INK is as good as they say, don't you think they would extend it for a while? With Carvel and Miller as its stars, should have a lot of advance traction in terms of ticket sales. What do others think? I just missed CHOIR BOY by a week...damn you, MTC!

MTC productions often extend by 1-3 weeks, depending on the demand for tickets and the actors' availabilities. Though Carvel and Miller aren't exactly Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in terms of sales, and it's a crowded spring with no guarantee of a Best Play nom...
I know if it plays past a certain number of weeks, the Equity contract has to switch to a full production contract instead of the lower-salary non-profit contract. So that's a factor in the length of the run. I just can't remember what that magic number of weeks is.
